So the wife and I built our own screen using Carl's 1.1 white matte fabric. I also saw that he (they?) has a silver screen option. Would this be a bad choice for CRT projection?

Why? Is it the silver color? Sorry - was busy and haven't had time to read your response. Thank you, by the way.

The gain is to high unless you want to do a Torus.

Since it looks like Spanky is trying to win a "shortest post" contest, I'll fill in the blanks a little... Wink

The high-gain material will show hot-spots. A little hot-spotting isn't so bad with a digital projector, but with a CRT you see multicolored hot-spots, or what's sometimes referred to as color shift. That's what makes it unsuitable for use with CRT.

The only way to use it with CRT would be a torus screen. The torus screen is curved in both directions and essentially spreads the hot spot out over the entire screen.

Cheers,
SC
