Was looking to pick up a few cables on Monoprice and I am seeing active or passive cables. ( one is both) I don't know what that means or if it even matters in my set up. Any help is appreciated. THANKS !

An active cable use a signal booster, mostly needed when the cable is over 40 feet or so.
Some of them have embedded PCB's in the connector, others need a USB supply on the display end of the cable.
You even find active fiber optic HDMI cables (expensive).
Don't spend your money on something like this if your cable-length is under 40 feet. Almost all high speed rated, well known brands HDMI cables, will do.
