Does anyone remember what the power supply specs are for this moome box? I lost the manual and can't find the PS. My bad I guess but hoped someone here might have the 8 1/2" x 11" manual that came with it or they might know off the top of their head. I have searched everywhere. Thanks. (no it's not silkscreened on the board inside...I checked).

Mine says the output is 9 volts.

AC or DC? If it's DC what is the polarity?

Thanks Bob!

I would have assumed DC but that's a very good question! Please share Bob.

I just assumed that all wall warts were DC and the same except for voltage. This one says +9 volts.

No, some will not have a built in rectifier so they output AC. If it's DC, polarity is up for grabs too. Some will output + on the outside of the barrel, some on the inside. The bigger outside is what is normally negative (-) but you never know. If you have a multimeter you can test by setting it to DC volts and checking.

You didn't necessarily volunteer for this but considering you are my only hope at the moment it would be REALLY great if you had a meter and could check if it's AC or not. Neutral

You can also email moome and ask. He would most certainly know. He's at moome.liu@gmail.com or moome@seed.net.tw

OK, I'll do that. It's just that, historically, he was always very hard to get hold of.

FYI. moome@seed.net.tw bounced back to me and may not be valid any longer.

Alright, it measures 9.1 volts DC. When it says +9 volts it must be DC. You wouldn't say +9 Volts AC. Or am I all screwed up? Very Happy

Well you could tell with the meter since an AC adapter would measure zero volts DC but would measure the stated volts on AC (on AC switching the leads around would give the same result). A DC adapter would measure +VDC with the leads one way and -VDC with the leads the other way. And a DC adapter would measure 2x VAC one way and zero VAC with the leads reversed. (At least that's how my multimeter works.)

Last night I found an adapter in a drawer in the garage. It's the only one I can find that has a plug that fits the transcoder. But it says 9VAC output. Based on what Bob says this would not be the right one though. Is it possible the box works with either AC or DC?

"Paging Dr. Moome..." (Maybe he will reply after the weekend.)

Strange. Been using that one for years.

hi, you can use either 9V AC or 9V DC, 9V DC will better for less case temperature.
