I thought I was done with buying projectors. And maybe I am!

But what can I do when someone calls me and says "Haul these away or they're going to the dump!"?

I get in my truck and go get them!

I'm not reveailng any details beyond this: FOUR ULTRAS.

Interesting: Not only is there a 9L P19LCP03 type tube, which is the HR spec tube, there is also a 9L P19LUG03 type,
and I now have some.

This IMPLIES that the HR tubes are not the sharpest. That SHOULD be the 9L LUGs.

I'm trying to confirm that with the manufacturer.

I like the LCP tubes for overall gain and drive ability. But the LUG's are better, and for best resolve capability you can't drive them hard. You really have to set their peak drive level (contrast) using a test pattern to make sure you don't bloom out the green, because the colors would need to track together.

Also, with the LUG's, clear or perfect glycol is very important for best resolution capability, whereas this is not that important with LCP's. With LUG's, the slightest discoloration with affect the outcome of a 1080P SMPTE test pattern. On the screen you would see a slight roll-off with distorted glycol, but when looking directly into the CRT itself, it would show a prefect pattern

I discovered today that I never got high resolution custom tubes.

They're just regular LCPs. The 9L means "9 inch, made by Lexel" so I have some emails to send.

Same goes for the LUGs. 9L means Lexel 9" tube.

I'm using only fresh glycol for all of these, regardless.

I don't know.

I was given some partial part number information on the "correct" high res tubes but honestly I should have written it down.
