I don't have many at this stage. I am still learning how to do screen shots. The camera seems to change how long the shutter is open depending on light from the screen. 2 similar shots attached. I will do more when I can get consistency with the camera. I am using a Canon EOS30D. It has so many settings to figure out.

You're running in aperature priority or auto-mode so the camera is compensating to get enough light.

All SLR have more or less the same settings and learning the basics about how f-stop/ISO/shutter work together is fundamental to understanding how these things work and being in control.

Try running in 100% manual (M) to learn how these 3 things work together. Once the basic fundamentals are known, you can pick up any camera and maximize it's use. I find the most frustrating thing is cameras that only have auto mode (like most small point & shoots) as you have no idea what the camera's doing in AUTO. All will behave differently. Manual mode? You're completely in charge and once you know the basics, it becomes straight forward.I have the same older Canon myself that I bought ~10 years ago, but I can pick up any SLR (film or digital) from any manufacturer from and know how to use it because the basics are understood - even the latest 70D or whatever Canon's making today. The principles of light and physics haven't/can't change.

See this:

http://www.exposureguide.com/exposure.htm

Or back up a bit and start from the start:

http://petapixel.com/2012/10/03/a-great-graphic-for-understanding-how-iso-aperture-and-shutter-speed-work/

Skip the camera manual. It'll mostly show you how to GET to the controls to change things, not WHY you'd want to change a control or setting.

Kal are you using a 6 point star filter in your avatar pic? I know its a bit OT, but since there is camera talk I figured I would ask Smile

I don't know what a "6 point star filter" is, so I guess the answer is no. Wink

EDIT: Oh! You probably mean the lights in the ceiling looking at starbursts:

That happens naturally with a smaller aperature / longer exposure. Shows you how many blades you have in your aperature control in the lens (in my case it was 6). I think

More info: http://photo.stackexchange.com/questions/6605/why-do-light-sources-appear-as-stars-sometimes

In my case I believe this was taken with my Canon 10-22 ultra-wide angle lens.

Thanks for the info Kal, that explains the starburst effect in great detail, and I now know that much more about cameras Laughing

I have a Canon T3i and I've been trying to get more creative with it (well... as creative as you can get with a kit lens)

Probably one of the reasons I like your photos so much is because the starburst effect in the photos just makes them look better Smile

The starburst does add something... I agree!

Fitted HD144 lens.
If I can find a good P16 tube for the second projector I will get another set of HD144's and play with stacking them

Those images look good from your 808s. Seems you have done a great job.

Thanks,
Its getting there. I haven't touched the focus at all other than the mechanical.
This weekend I will do the magnets and the electronic astig.
I am going to have a play with making some 6 pole as well.

Did those SEOS sets come with 6 pole CPC? The standard BG808s came with 4 pole CPC.

So did the Cine 9 and 909.

They came with 4 pole. I picked up an 808 off ebay with 4 pole. I will use the magnets off the 808 to make a six pole and fit it to the green tube to start with.

Case, the lens make a big difference to the colour. Sharpness is very close maybe a tad better in the corners. When I find a green tube for the second SEOS I will get another set of lens from Curt.

I have some faint lines down the left hand side of the picture. Adjusting the 17volt rail to 17.5 made the fainter but still there. Any ideas of what causes this?
Thanks,
Greg

Each of the rings on a CPC set uses a different magnetic field simply adding a set of rings from another 4 pole set doesn't result in a 6 pole set. If whatever you have works thats great but it's not 6 pole if you have done what i think you have.

Basically a total waste of time. A second set of 4 poles wont do anything worthy.

NECs are factory fitted with 6 pole CPCs and for some reason he wants to step down to a lessor machine, and im still confused as to WHY...

Yes, they are a Barco thing. Its normal on them, its something you just dont get on an NEC, but you still want to step backwards!!

Its not about stepping backwards. Its about it being a hobbie and challenging myself to get the best out of each projector. I have nothing to loose and fun times to gain. I really enjoy making changes and mods and seeing the results.
The NEC has issues and needs to come down to be sorted. This will be my next challenge. It wont do 1080i@96. I also need to hit the kelvin button after it warms up to get it to the right gray scale.

Well get it sorted and enjoy a superior machine!

Either leave AKB on or store the warmed up values.

One of the problems is that it wont store the warmed up values. Store comes up on the screen and I store it. Same problem next time I turn it on.
