Forgot one. Is the jumper in the right place?

Yes, the jumper is in the right position. When not, you won't see "green only" in the convergence menu.
Unless you are blending, COG is useless. Like Curt said, you can use the newer one and you keep the older for spareparts.
Congrats with the purchase, by the way.

Thanks,
I didn't really buy them as such. The money I paid for the projectors went down as a donation to the Science Centre & Planetarium.
Once I get the remote I will set the good one up and compare it to the XG. They are both AC so they should be simular.
The green tube in the Barco is a PT18-205GD. These are listed for the 1208 and have a better contrast ratio than the XG. It will be an interesting comparison.
I would like to go 9inch LC for my next project but projectors and parts in Australia are impossible to find at an acceptable price.
Greg.

The HD144 lenses are sharper and overal better on the XG, since they are colour filtered. The XG has better video bandwidth, and a superior video chain. The geometry/convergence settings are also better on the XG. The Barco will be more quiet as you already noticed, and since the barco has slightly larger tubes it may be a little brighter.

The board in front of the COG board I would think is the convergence output board. All the pictures I have found of the convergence tray has a board with 2x STK on it. This one does not. Is this a standard Barco board or a SEOS board?

Nice spotting and NO its not standard.

That convergence output board looks like a R762519 and they did not have the 2x STK on them. If thats right then that board could be completely standard.

They are, not much but still larger, not to mention that barco have no problem with full size raster.

Neither does the XG, i even ran my PG Plain at full for around 7,000 hours with no issues til after it came out of service.

The issue is though, the Barco has HD-8s, which dont focus near as well as HD-145s, meaning the edges wont be as tight, and the rather ordinary convergence system of the Barco will make that even worse.

The fact its all clear lenses will help with brightness.

I will see how it looks once I get the remote. I am thinking it might need a convergence board to work on a flat screen. This maybe a SEOS mod board.

I have a spare XG so I could fit the HD145 lens on the Barco. I have access to a machine shop to make up the adaptors.

Just re looking at that convergence output board and it could be a R762519 which did not have the two STK chips. If thats right then it should be OK for flat screen although I can't tell you if SEOS have modified it.

Hi Guys,
Finally got a chance to make a screen in the shed and setup the 808s. It took a couple of hours to work my way through the set up, (so different from the XG). This thing has a very impressive picture. Very bright and heaps of contrast. The brightness is set at 36 and the contrast is a 60. It seems to have a smoother and more detailed picture than the XG. This maybe due to a cloth screen i have made up for the 808s against a vinyl screen for the XG. Its just a very different picture.
I will post some screen shots over the next few days.

Nice score, 120mhz end-stages. You should try to get a set of LC chambers with sheimpflug. Glue the new PT-18"s into these housings, mount color filtered C-elements from a Sony G70 and a set of HD-18 lenses maybe VR if you can find and you'll have a very nice PJ for years to come. Oh and don't forget to buy Moome's HD input card.
I had several 808's and 1208 LC before my SEOS 909 came.

Thanks Francisco,
Finding LC housings is a problem. I think Curt could help me out with C elements and Lens.

Greg can you take the same shots with your XG750 running (if its not a big deal of course Smile )? I'm curious to see the difference. The Barco looks like its doing a great job though Thumbs Up

I don't have many at this stage. I am still learning how to do screen shots. The camera seems to change how long the shutter is open depending on light from the screen. 2 similar shots attached. I will do more when I can get consistency with the camera. I am using a Canon EOS30D. It has so many settings to figure out. The Barco is brighter but not as sharp.
I am going to fit a set of HD144 lens to the Barco as well.
