Does anyone know how to embed a video on this forum? I have a video that I want to include in a post and I have it in .mov and .rm format. How can I embed it in a post so that it is there and playable inside the post? It would be best for the reader to have to press PLAY before it starts, but it would also be ok if the video just plays on its own.
I want to use one of these videos:

Thanks,
craigr

Thanks Kal. The video goes with this thread:
http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=37247
Is there any video format that will work for embedding into the forum? I can convert the existing file to something else pretty easily and host that file instead on my web page.
I remember you talking about youtube a while ago (I think) and what a royal PITA it was to try and make happen.
Happy new year,
craigr

I don't think the forum supports embedding any video at all, Craig. Just post the link like you did here, or better yet, a link to a YouTube video, because YouTube is very portable and playable on pretty much every platform.
Video on the web is a giant PITA. The YouTube method Kal mentioned is easiest, but anything beyond that would be even more of a pain in the ass and very browser/platform/plugin dependent, none of which is easily worked around, hence the popularity of sites like YouTube and Vimeo.
Cheers,
SC

Got it, thanks.
I'll just post a link to the MOV on my server. I am not a registered user of youtube so my site will be good enough.
Happy new year Steve,

FWIW, YouTube is a source of advertising too. I would recommend you create an account (it's free) and always host videos there. That way people find you searching on YouTube as well.
Other benefits include lowering your website bandwidth and like Steve said, it's guaranteed to work for everyone. Nobody wants to download video files. Most people that click on a link to your .MOV file will not be able to view the video.
Get enough views on your videos and you can earn money too (though that takes a considerable number).
Kal
