Yeah, you're sitting back saying to yourself, like, whatever... It's that air coupled 8510 thing Curt's selling as parts on ebay...

But wait! It is NOT AC! It's a freakin' LC machine!

Ok, maybe YOU knew that, but I sure as heck didn't!

Take a look! The thing is built!

You know, I looked that up like 3 times and the VDC docs don't say LC. They do say LC for the -24...

Now to find P16 tubes... or, I wonder if I can mod the neck boards to run with 180DMB..

I was all ready to simply swap tubes last night from my 8500's. This was a huge surprise to me! I'm hoping these will work out for blending. They should be able to sit way up front on the floor or ceiling!

Weird... projector only says 8510 on it, not LC! I thought I had the wrong docs!

Anyone know what tubes can be adapted to the neck board? Tubes from Barco 808? Sony G70?

All tubes used in Barco 8" EM and Ampro 8" EM machines. EDIT: all panasonic tubes from these machines... sony tubes are different.

Those are stock neck boards.

Gordon I still have those low hour tubes from my Longbows.
But i think you'll have to remove them from the current housings and fit them
to yours. Pain in the ass but doable.

Sounds good to me, Nash! Some effort to exchange the tubes within the LC housings and then the blend projectors go up on the ceiling...

The sooner you sell them to me, the sooner I have reason to work on the blend gamma solution... (Hint hint...) I can come pick them up this weekend and get to work...

Wonder if the P16 and 180 tubes have different pin-outs... Is the neck board a direct swap, or are these more like the P19LCP boards?

depends on the P16. I had a P16LNN here with marquee pin outs (G2 on pin 2). You have to actually look inside the neck of the tube and see which pin has the G2 lead attached.

From what i see in pic nr. 5 in this thread, its a standard pinout.

Took it apart some more tonight.

This projector is BUILT!

Check out the metal ring holding in the C element...

The C element seems small, though. Are the G70 C elements this small? Would Barco 708 C elements work?

Trying to see if there are any options for filtered C elements...

And the bellows...

Is it really an 8" projector?

If the lenses are HD117's I think that c-elements are only clear type.
Somewhere in this forum there's a topic that show differences between G70's, Cine8's and Barco retroblock c-elements.

However ...

G70 c-elements (filtered) works with HD18 lenses.
Cine8 c-elements (filtered) works HD 215 lenses.
Barco retroblock c-elements (clear only, filtered non existent I think) works with HD117's that show in your pictures.

So the c-elements of one type NO MATCHING with others, are totally incompatibile.

From the above mentioned list the HD215 is something which is not worth the effort, it isn't a very good lens. On the other hand HD117 may even better than the HD18, and you'd need custom lens adapters to mount the HD18 anyway. For now I'd stick with the HD117s some people managed to get statisfactory results in color filtering by adding simple color filters used in stage lighting.

I can see how that would work. The H117 lens does not have a bulge that enters the C element so a filter could be placed between them...
