I am able to get my hands on a near mint ampro 4600.
Good choice? Worth getting it? It's just 50 euro.
Also, how do I connect a hdmi device to its rgbhv?
Do i need to convert hdmi to vga and then connect a vga to rgbhv cable to the projector? I intend to use it for movies and games

You need a www.hdfury.com, probably the 3. Beware though that I had one here that had H shift issues, and I could never figure out why, or how to fix it.

I commented that it was a low end 9" projector over at avs, since it doesn't have Scheimpflug or electronic astig adjustments. Other than that, they are pretty reliable overall.

What about distance? How far does it need to be from the wall for a 100" picture?

Probably will skip it, as it's just 50 euro and I need to spend another 200 euro for a HD fury to even get it working with hdmi sources, and I still have to get a vga to rgbhv cable to connect it all, plus I'll have to figure out a way to send the audio to my ht receiver. I highly doubt that's worth it. As I am rather unwilling to mount it on the ceiling. Probably better off digital with wireless hdmi?

It sounds like you want plug and play. CRT is definitely not for you then.

Plug and play, not necessarily. But it costs several hundreds to even make it useable. I'll probably go and pick it up anyway, can't really let it slip for 50 eh. Is it possible to put it underneath the coffee table? Or does it need to be raised like 1.30m above the floor?

Turns out now it's actually an ampro 3600, so no 9" Sad
It does have the quad board though, so svhs and composite.

3600 is a fabulous machine. I wish these units would show up more often near me.

Luuk, the manual is in the FAQ section of the main site. It covers all the installation parameters.

Whether it's worth 50 Euros is going to depend on the tubes.

Have you ever had any of these 3xxx models with worn tubes? I have thousands of hours on both mine and they still show hardly any wear.

I scrapped my last 3300 in the fall, but do have a 3600 chassis here in case anyone needs something repaired. Still have a 1/2 wall 'o parts for Ampro as well.

those are both 480i only, not even DVD resolution.
You don't HAVE to have an HD fury. Use a desktop PC with a media player and have it play standard DVD's at 1280 x 720P, it will look great.
A cable that is VGA on one end and 5BNC on the other end should be about 10 Euros'

Yes you can put it under a coffee table, very popular option
