|
|
So my wife is now wanting to know how much I have spent on the home theater equipment....I asked her why and she says her mother is claiming that I have spent thousands upon thousands on the equipment and I said I could have but didn't and all 2nd hand I might add. Get this.....the wench has a neighbor that spent 12 grand on just the home theater equipment. She said mine blows that setup away. Then she accused me of lying. But I was honest when I told her 90% of the equipment that I purchased normally does not come in at the prices that I paid and are normally much much higher. Again she didn't believe me this morning. So I itemized them. But I feel like I am lying as well when I look at the loot.
VV1 45.00
VV1 MOOME CARD 50.00
DARBEE 5000 & 120 INCH DA LITE SCREEN 100.00
SONY RECEIVER 150.00
JENSEN 3 WAY SPEAKERS 150.00
YAMAHA SIDE SPEAKERS 45.00
DHX REAR SPEAKERS 15.00
SONY CENTER SPEAKER 10.00
SPEAKER WIRE 35.00
now my only question is I want to know what my MIL's neighbor bought equipment wise. I am wondering if he was taken for a ride. My mother in law in my opinion may not know what makes his setup to be not as good as mine or vise versa. But that will have to wait for another time. I am sure his sound blows mine out of the water.

Don't be so sure. I have seen people spend a lot of money on overpriced stock. ( directional speaker wires for example). Then again I have seen people buy pretty decent stuff and wire it up with 6 cent a foot 24 gauge speaker wire they bought at the hardware.

You bought that whole setup for $600 !? OK, **I'M** gonna accuse you of lying!!
Seriously. She called you a liar just because she doesn't believe you're a good bargain-shopper? You've got a problem there.
Ask her how much she's spent on shoes, or makeup, or whatever vice she has. My ex had nearly $8000 in **beads** in her craft room, plus God knows how many trips to bead shows &etc...

Why exactly do you have to justify ANYTHING to your MIL?
Man, I'd like to use a line that I heard on satellite radio right here, but I'll behave.

LOL....obviously Curt has never experienced the pure joy of having a mother in law. You learn to justify everything my friend. Here is the best part as you only know half of the mother in law saga. The wife has a birth mom and a step mom. That's right TWO f*cking MOTHER IN LAWS!!!! I am consistently in trouble no matter where I go, what I spend, and what I spend time doing.

I dunno, that would be a deal killer for me, seriously. You're an adult, so unless you have an addiction problem (like I do, with 150 CRTs!), why don't they stay the heck out of your life?
(sorry, probably treading on thin ice here, but I'd have the same attitude in reverse, if my mom was always looking over my shoulder)
Yes, you're right, I've never been married.

What is the word I am looking for misog something?
Total agreement. Curt is a hell of a lot nicer than me. I would be going off or worse. It is one thing to be asked, but then called a liar. I don't believe my parents have ever gone that far with my brother in law. My father does try to meddle in some of my stuff, but I quickly put a stop to that. If he ever called me a liar like your MIL, then I would probably tell him to f#$k off and not talk to him for a couple of months.

Digitalayon, sorry i dont remember your name, but mate who is wearing the pants there???? It has been said in the past that relationships tend to work better when neither of you have any pants on, but sooner or later you will need to leave the house...
Im seriously considering buying another AMG Mercedes Benz because i love them so much one is just not enough, if i had a mother in law she would be the last person getting a say in that!!
But then again for some married men, the phrase "do whatever the f*** you like" doesnt really mean what you think...

The only difference I see here is that you need to buy 2 shock collars instead of just one.

WTF?!?!? I can see why she's your ex..
In general, statistical studies show that men tend to spend money on more expensive items while woman have the habit of buying several smaller priced items. At the end of the day, the total expenditure is roughly the same. The problem is the perception around the items in question.
For example, Digital spent $600 on a kick ass HT set up that he'll likely enjoy for the next 5+ years. His wife (and MIL:P ) will also be enjoying over that same time period so it remains in their consciousness. Digital's wife will likely spend the same $600 on clothes, accessories or other knick knacks that will be forgotten or discarded within a year. What compounds the issue is the original price tag of Digital's equipment and the fact that he likely has earned the lifetime achievement "you suck" award for landing a retubed VV1 for $50!

Lets just hope his VV1 is not cursed with the same fate as the previous owner.
Was there a MIL in the last owners situations, lol.

You forgot the part where the unit also came with a Chief lifting mount. I would have an even better setup if I could just figure out what the hell happened to my HDMI card in my Onkyo receiver.

So I guess getting Gary a "night escort" wearing a bunch of beads in the nude might scare him off.

Neither of use wear pant.....however I do in my man cave. That is what makes the relationship work. She has her own craft area to wear the skirt. Everything else is pretty easy....FYI....my name is Andy
