Link Posted: Sat Nov 09, 2013 7:07 pm Post subject: Moome HD card to Sony 1251Q error & AppleTV issue (SC?) |
|
|
I recently purchased a Moome HD card and installed into my Sony 1251Q PJ as per instructions
The projector displayed an error of horizontal frequency too high upon hooking up Apple TV. I have tried changing the Apple TV to RGB, as well as trying 1080p 60hz, 720p, and 480p. I have set the clamp to both AUTO and H/C.
I even tried using our DVD player and a PS3. I have not been able to get anything other than splash screens on four different devices.
They all do the same thing. The Apple logo splash screen shows fine and then the screen flashes before showing the frequency error.
I have been in contact with Moome and tried many different scenarios.
I am now going to try and send the card back to him for a swap of a different card in hopes that this one was just defective.
Any ideas or similar problems before I put this card in the mail that I can try???
Thanks

Set the PS3 to 1080i or 720P and try again. Make sure 1080p is UNCHECKED.

We just hooked up the PS3 and did a hard reset to get the HDMI.
It does a splash screen of saying that it is on HDMI and then shows the error mentioned in this post.
My son is claiming that it will not move to the next stage of changing HDMI if you move from TV to PJ?

That is a very good point. Make sure 1080p is disabled from any device you try.
The Moome EDID reports to source devices that it can support 1080p 60Hz. If the source goes by EDID than it will switch to 1080p 60Hz. You may need to plug your source into a different TV and disable 1080p before plugging back into the Moome board.

I am seeing in posts and being told that Moome card is capable of 1080p - 60hZ.
Is it the PJ that cant do it? Even though specs say it can.

Are you sure the settings took? A 1251 should be able to do 720P.

It's the projector that can't do 1080p. The specs are over blown.

yes I just double checked it. I also tried it on auto.
The splash screen works fine and then it flickers and puts up the error.

Sounds like the video timings are to narrow maybe for your projector to sync. You could try adjusting the RGB centering control on the projector to the right and left while sending 720p to see if you can get it to lock onto the signal. Just FYI 720p should show in the 1251 menu screen as 45khz

Thanks for the help. One quick question if I now have ps3 and DVD player working on 1080i wouldn't that mean that PJ rgb settings would be correct for 720p?

No, if you look at the SONY 1251 manual you'll see there are different memory blocks for different scan rates. Have you tried copying the memory globally by holding down the memory key for 10 seconds? That gets the rest of the memory blocks close to your good set up.

1080i and 720p are borderline for the 1251's memory blocks. Looks like Block 5 is where 1080i ( 37.5KHz )would land and that block will also cover up to 45Khz BUT, 720p from the Apple may be jumping to memory block 6. Hence why you should copy the global memory over.
The other possibility is, the Apple TV is outputting a very narrow signal timing on the 720p, meant for flat screens and not to compatible with CRT's. To correct that you would need an HD Scaler of some sort.
Goto page 4 in the SONY's menu to see which memory block you are currently using.
EDIT: typo

With DVD player hooked up it says block 3 and 33khz. I cant get the pages up while the error is thrown so difficult to tell which page.

Says page 5 and 44.6khz before error is thrown off of appletv.
Is there a scaler that is better than others. Also what would you say my chances of correcting this with a scaler is?

That's likely 480p but 480p is actually 31.5KHz so msy not be entirely accurate.
You might look for an older Apple TV box but I'm not sure if they still allow streaming over Component. Anyone know?
