Lumagen is a dream for RS232 control. It is very easy with short strings. All their codes are posted on their web site and are in the manual. If you know RS232 programming than you won't have any trouble. If you do have trouble just shoot Lumagen tech support an email with the questions and they will get back to you quickly.

Have no fear with Lumagen and RS232. Unlike most manufacturers it is very well implemented.

Hi yin,

Are you an RTI dealer and/or are you very familiar with the RTI programming software? I'm not, but most systems have some way to denote hex bytes, to differentiate them from ASCII bytes so you can mix them in the same string. In some systems, backslash-x denotes the following two characters as a hex byte.

The Lumagen command format is #<command><CR>, so for standby, it would be #$<CR>.

So, that could be written:
#$\x0D

Your string could be written with all hex, so:
\x23\x24\x0D

So, I'd make sure you understand how to denote hex bytes in the RTI software.

The other thing to check is to make sure you have the serial port configured properly on the RTI controller, and that you're using the correct serial cable (NULL vs. crossover, or DTE vs. DCE).

Cheers,
SC

Hi ecrabb,
all the other codes are working for the lumagen except this one "Standby" #$\r
"On" would be #%\r
So it can`t be a cable question because the other codes work
the serial port(RS-232)5 are all the same
so???

Ah, you neglected to mention it was all working OTHER than the standby command. That sounds like a Lumagen issue, then. Maybe standby can be disabled in the config menu or something. Hopefully Craig can chime in.
