Pics and info added about the splitter

just thought i'd share... im on a super limited budget and cant afford a proper standalone v processor , moome fury ect ATM so i gambled with one of these

https://www.ebay.com/?mkcid=1&mkrid=711-53200-19255-0&siteid=0&campid=5336656890&toolid=20008&mkevt=1

lukily i had a vga to 5bnc laying around so no extra outlay there... and .... it worked!!!! WOW! not bad for 10 bucks i use my receiver for switching / scaling so needed a simple/cheap solution.... now you must take this with a grain of salt.... IT DOES NOT STRIP HDCP!!!!! so you may still have an issue there but i'll be updating this tread soon as I've just ordered an active 1 in 2 out hdmi splitter that's rumored to strip HDCP... then BAM!!! fingers crossed....

i still have hdcp running around my v chain so i plugged the hdmi to vga to bnc direct from the digital set top box (china non hdcp special) to projector and got 1080i @ 50 (my cine 7 poops itsself at 1080P so i dont go there )

As a side note Ive had to result to this as unfortunately im one of the people that HDCP affected incorrectly... I take pride in buying / hiring all my movies / Blurays as originals its something for me to look forward too... its just the v chain im using makes HDCP think im a thief... the Splitter cost me $20 bucks so hopefully this $30 dollar combo can stick it the the HDCP creators that spent fortunes to try make my equipment obsolete CRT Forever ********!!!!!

Did the splitter end up working? I just purchased a Faroudja NRS-DVI that I'd like to use with HDCP sources...

Thanks for posting. I may have to grab one of these to put in my completely-HDMI-compliant chain to see if it solves my issue.

My only concern is given the price and source, what else is it doing to the signal?

My guess is at that price, and given the fact that things are digital, it's doing absolutely nothing to the actual display and audio data, other than decrypting it and removing the HDCP protection.

Given the complexity of HDCP handshaking with two displays and one source, the manufacturer likely elected to just decode the HDCP-encrypted data, then transmit it to both outputs. Since this is all a digital bitstream, the picture and audio should be completely unaffected.

Not sure this is the source he got his from, but this one is identical in appearance, listed on Amazon (free prime shipping!), and has some reviews stating it removes HDCP:

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003UYOEMI/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B003UYOEMI&linkCode=as2&tag=curtpalmecrtp-20&linkId=UGWWHGALXW7YJDUS

I just ordered one, at $17 I couldn't resist.

Oh, wait... some later reviews say the latest models do not strip HDCP... good thing I didn't quite pull the trigger yet, we'll have to wait for the OP.

Link doesn't work from here.

I actually ended up getting the Amazon one, someone posted a review in July stating it stripped HDCP, after the person (in april) said it didn't. In another August review, someone said that it "lets them use their Blu-Ray player with their old TV" when nothing else would work for them.

So I took a gamble as well. We'll see how they work!

Here's a working link to mx83toy's item:

Only ships to Australia, unfortunately. I will report back on whether mine works or not later this week.
