1292, I squeezed the vertical a bit, but it ran fine for a few days. Then I connected a new computer to it, so a new resolution, and the picture kept collapsing into itself and stretching out, twitching horizontally mostly. Then it just went out and gave me an error 02. Does this hint that a protection circuit is blown? Is it on the E board?

Hmmm....
The twitching i wouldve attempted to correct by cleaning all the yoke connectors. Not sure if thisll be your issue though.
Careful with that collapsing, youll burn a line into the tubes.

Could it be a clamp setting?

I'm not sure what that means or how to check. I tried googling it.

In the menu, there's a video clamp setting. You can cycle through ( if I remember ) 3 settings.

Oh, no. I mean I can't even turn the projector on. It turns off after 2 seconds and gives me an error 02. No video source is plugged in at all.

No, nothing you did caused this. It's a 17 year old projector!
It's the H output board that needs repair most likely. Answering your PM in a second.

Curt, is the 1292's H output board like the G70's PA board? Seems like on many occasions I recall guys' G70 PA boards dying after they did geometry or convergence. Just wondering if it was a similar deal.

No, it's more like the other 12XX series.
