|
|
Hello everyone. I am hoping someone can provide some assistance to me.
I purchased the MUX FHD (White box w/ gray band; HDMI 2 out / 4 in) on a suggestion from a friend so that I could offload some items from my DVR (Model R22-100). Well needless to say that "friend" isn't around anymore so I am clueless how to get this to work. I tried going through what info I could find online but it's all reading like a foreign language to me (no pun intended to the maker). IM running the Colossus card in my pc currently. I am able to get it to work with the component cables. I am looking to simplify things using the HDMI.
Thanks in advance!
Chris

Sorry, should have went into more detail.
Did the connections just like that, nothing.
This is the only one that works.
R22-100 set to 1080i output ----------- Comp.cable ------------ Colossus card (Good!)
Any HDMI connection with the MUX I get no signal. From what I understand both the HDMI & Comp outlets are live so no switching needed. Im not sure if I have to have MUX setup in a certain "output setting" for it to work. From the directions it shows settings for the dip switches & multipel combinations for the output. I also did try 4 different HDMI cables, same result. Also made sure to disconnect comp when HDMI was connected & vise versa just in case the R22 detected both & would disable one or the other.

Have you selected the right output type on the Mux.
"Two HDMI output with user selectable output mode include HDMI-RGB, HDMI-YCbCr444, HDMI-YCbCr422, DVI-RGB, bypass mode."
Also
Hauppauge
"Input and outputs
Note: video input on Component and HDMI sources is limited to 1080i"

Shoktronic, any success in obtaining your goal?
Has anyone in the forum successfully used the MUX-FHD device with the Hauppauge Colossus card to record high definition 1080i HDMI output from a DirecTivo Unit or DirecTV HD DVR on to a PC hard drive using the HDMI input on the Colossus?

This appears to be an HDCP issue, since the Colossus doesn't have it. From the Hauppage website's Colossus page: "With the Colossus HDMI input port, you can record HD video at up to 1080i from any un-encrypted HDMI source! Note: Unencrypted HDMI comes from the Xbox 360 plus most video cameras. Most cable and satellite TV set top boxes encrypt HDMI output, so you cannot record from these sources. " From what I've been able to find out, the MUX is pretty much a splitter on steroids and does NOT remove HDCP from signals. The website does say the Colossus will record 1080i from set top boxes via component, so it looks like you're limited to that.

Is this true? Does the MUX-FHD not remove HDCP from signals?

It does and it doesn't
On my TV-One Processor it has a display that lets you know If the source has HDCP or not. It will say available or not. With out the MUX it says available but the Processor won't work for some reason( TV-One did a crappy job with HDCP compliance) but with the MUX it show's Available as well but then the TV-One works. So what it does with the signal is unknown but it allows NON HDCP displays or devises to tell the source to output a signal.
