Hi everyone

I picked up a 1271q recently that I hoped would replace my zenith 851 and that I could use to learn about CRT projectors. I did a quick setup when I got it home and it seemed to work fine. So I put together a ceiling mount per the site's direction, switched the polarity connections to hang the projector and spent 4 hours learning about convergence and setup. It was a lot of fun

After all that I proudly called my family together to watch the first movie since installing. Toward the end of the movie an intermittent horizontal shaking or wobbling had developed. I've tried reinserting the polarity connectors but the wobble remains, even when the menus and test patterns are on. If anyone has some suggestions? I'm new to this and not an electronics wiz but if you speak slowly I'll try to understand.

Steve

Yeah mate clean the yoke connectors. They are probably dirty, and that will cause the image wobble.

thanks for the suggestion - It seems to have improved it. I'll run it a while and see if the wobble returns

So I took that video with a friend's Sony 1251, for us the connector cleaning didn't help. But I found that in certain resolutions it shaked, hovever switching to an other resolution the shaking stopped, switching back to theinitial resolution the shaking came back. I tried to find out what is happening, but for me the mistery was unsolved because the problem was very seldom, the machine was here for about a week, and the problem showed 2-3 times during that time, it was almost imposible to catch with measuring equipment. My guess is the problem is somewhesre in the sync generator section, maybe recapping would help, I didn't do it, because my friend didn't want to spend too much money on it.
Here is the thread what I started regarding this:

Not sure about the 12s, but the 10 Sonys are pretty damn well equiped with good capacitors, i replaced a heap in a 1001 that has done over 60,000 hours, and every single cap tested perfect.

Not to say the 12s may not have an issue, but i wouldnt think so at that age and Sony...

Lets hope it was only dirty yoke connections, cause it may be hard to find if its anything more than that, unless they have cracked solder joints, in which case they will get bad connection when they heat up.
