Got 6 of these, and they all have an identical problem, none of the Blu Ray laser diodes can read blu rays, but of course the DVD/CD laser diodes work just fine in every unit...
Now I have the service manual for this player, and this particular model uses a drive that has adjustable pots on the optical pickup. The service manual tells me not to adjust these since they have already been adjusted (obviously).
Well I decided at the very least I can mark where the pots are from factory on one of the units and mess with it. After tinkering with them a bit I did get the player to read a few blu rays, but it wont read all of them, seems to be at best a 50/50 thing, half work, half will try to work but dont.
I am sure they can be fixed, I did manage to get one to go from no blu ray readability to 4 of 8 blu rays working just fine in the one I messed with...
Sooooooo anyone wanna help? The SM has the wavelengths of the optics for each CD/DVD/BD pickup....

I'm far from a expert on optical drives, but usually (from what I heard from a tech long ago, it's the photocells within the optical assembly that fail rather than the laser diodes themselves. I also tried your technique, slightly tweak every pot in sight, putting them back where they were if it didn't do anything.
I think out of 50 CD/DVD players, I got one running that way.
I'd see if you can find the laser assembly on eBay, and replace it first. Should be pretty cheap if you can find them.

I assume you mean the mechanism that has the laser diodes on it right? I wouldn't know what model to look for... I did find a guy on ebay that had 3 drives for $20 each, but the player is not worth putting $20 + shipping into..
So I assume the photo cell is unrepairable right? Since its a one piece thing? lol
Gotta love it when companies put out cheap crap to fail purposely so you hvae to upgrade or replace....
