I have just put new tubes that I bought from Curt in my 1272. They have been in about two or three weeks and I run my unit an average of 4 hrs a day. Everything is great except for the convergence memory. This is new to me because the high hour tubes I replaced never seemed to have this problem. Every time I restart the unit from one day to the next the red (and blue to a certain extent) is always slightly out sometimes to the left and other times a little bit high. When I turn the unit on I have waited anywhere from 30 min to an hour to reconverge. I save after every step. Things finally seem to settle down after about an hour or two then I can watch whatever without the remote in my hand constantly. I'm not a total newby at this, but there is a lot I'm sure I don't know. So the obvious question is.....is there a break in period and is this something I will just have to live with till whenever or is whatever board that controls the memory of this this function going bad or what? I am open to any and all suggestions.

Curt can chime in on this, but I think it's probably two issues.
First, since you just retubed, it's probably the yokes moving around on the necks. When you transferred the yokes from the old tubes to the new tubes, did you apply fabric tape to the tube necks like the old one had? Did you also make sure that the yokes were nice and tight against the tube bell before you tightened the clamps, and were the clamps nice and tight? If you didn't do all three, you can have the issue you describe.
Second, the 1272 is getting to be a pretty old machine at this point. Most of them drift a little. If they're converged at operating temp, it's normal to expect them to be misconverged at startup, then drift into good convergence.
But, if you're having trouble leaving it alone though, and that's a new issue, then I'd guess it's the yoke install.

Thanks for your reply. I think you've hit the nail on the head. The new tubes did come with tape on them and I have tried to make sure that the yokes are all where they are suppose to be, but I will recheck for tightness. Last night when I came home and fired the unit up it was the best start up yet. The new tubes made a ton of difference in the picture plus I have the color corrected lens waiting to be put on and a Lumagen HDQ on the way. I know there are smaller and lighter units out there, but I've been working with units like this since and I just love them. Maybe though I'm like the guy with the old classic car who just keeps plugging away at it. Thanks again for your help. This forum is a great place.
