If I remember correctly you have the interlock defeated on the cpu board. I'm pretty sure the HV wont come on with that defeated. Check the interlock switch and set it to normal setting.

This has got to be the longest broken AmPro thread in history. If Pete had his way this 4000G would be a scraped Toyota by now Laughing

It's just a running joke now. My friends always ask me if I make it through the opening credit's before it blew up. Laughing

Check the /ENABLE to see if the CPU is trying to turn on the supply. If +5V it is not trying, if it is near 0V then the CPU is trying to turn it on.

If it is being told to turn on but no output check OVERVOLT to see if it is in a overvoltage condition. 0V would be normal, +5V indicates the supply has shut down.

It's a mystery to me why yours is so troublesom. I have one over at my brothers house, next to the ocean in a un-heated garage. It's been exposed to enough salt air and condensation to kill anything and it keeps running. I accuired it with a blown HVPS. I replaced it with one from Curt and it was fine until I tried to use it in a simulator booth with no A/C at 101 degrees out and smoked the second HVPS. I repaired that supply and it's been fine ever since.

I may have spoke to soon. It just came back to me with a problem. Don't start drooling yet Pete as it's not the projectors fault. I think it's a bad Sony SD-146A tube. The projector fires up just fine Laughing

It was dip switch 3 on the CPU card.

When I fliped switch 4 the display on the remote asked for a password. Hmmm does the Ampro have a super secret menu we don't know about?

I didn't connect a source, I have the PJ off in a corner just now but the HV came up and the test patterns look fine. I even tried firing it up half an hour later ( which is when it died last time ) and it fired right up.

Thanks to everybody that helped me out so far, especialy the all knowing all Ampro seeing Scott. Thumbs Up

AMPRO

Super Secret Password Procedure (guarenteed to work)

Power = OFF

Power = ON (this is a trick and will revert back to the Power = OFF setting)

Thats pretty much all you need to know about ampros

Well now. I hadn't used the Ampro in ages. All this week I've had it fired up with a couple of auxiliary cooling fans on it. Just running S-video from the DVD recorder just to get it running.

It died last night. I lost the red tube's output. That tube has been troublesome from the start. ( c. 2006 ). I tried the usual, unplugging the neck card, giving it a wiggle, smacking the projector from a lazy azzed seated position. Finally I got up and changed the neck card. I'ts back running again. Very Happy

...I'm outta neck cards....

You'd rather I started another? It's easier to keep track of in one thread

It's got family, working but needs a green tube. All you need to do is figure out a way to get it there for a family reunion Thumbs Up

I shut it down. Strange though. It's got the top off and two fans blowing on it. One on the power supplies and one across the convergence board ( which also has the cover removed )

You have a 4000 there do you?
