Hi,
I have an NEC XG135 that has rgb input. I've found a vx-1000ci control box that has component in and rgb out. Can I use it to convert component to rgb/ The owner says you need to setup the serial cables and have it programmed. He's asking $199 for it.
thanks.

I already have a key digital color space converter I bought around 2005.
The NEC doesn't have much for scaling (just line doubling), (nor do these colorspace converters from what I can tell). From what I've been reading the VX-1000ci can do some nice hv scaling. Am I comparing apples to apples? The one you suggested does look nice.

The RTC2200 is a component to RGBHV converter with an adjustable low end gamma bump. It's a good economical solution to get a YPbPr /component signal into the projector. You can also run RGBHV sources through the VGA input so if you want to connect a laptop or PC to the projector it makes a convenient place to plug it in, and you get the gamma on that input as well.

If you want much more control follow Nash's advice and go for a scaler and an external Moome box.

What sources will you be using with the projector?

EDIT: Looks like the vx-1000ci scales everything to 1280x720. I'm not sure the digital video timing for the original DLP projector will play nicely with your NEC 135.
