9" Marquee owners might EEEESPPPECIALLY be interested here... 
I *MAY* need someone to pack some stuff for me. Qualifications will include:
-no criminal record. 
-have access or drive an SUV, minivan or pickup.
-have access to a couple of pallets
-have access to shrink wrap or rope.
-know how to package CRT type stuff.
-be able to take 1/2 day or so off work to do what I need, since it can't be done on weekends.
-it's worth some $$ to me.

Problem is, not many XGs were sold to the gov't anywhere as compared to Barco and Marquee, so they are super hard to find..

Someone in this country is sitting on a bunch of them, I know it, and the worst part is, they probably don't know they are worth anything!

Hold on, in the net few months I'll probably start to transplant a full set of NEC E8508 tubes (which are easier to find) in a PG xtra chassis, if it works then they could find a way in XG chassis as well.

Yes, but the metalwork would be insane, you cannot pull the electronics from the XG as they are fitting so tight there, but the 9" tubes need much more space than what is available in that, that is the most problematic part.
IMHO the wedding of a 10PG (even with conventional 9" panasonic tubes) and a PG xtra is much easier to do, and the PG xtra's bandwidth is not much worse than the XG's, the only problem with the PGs that they can't stand the high scanrates (>70kHz) for long.

Easier to do yes, but metalwork isn't impossible either. I bet it would be fairly reasonable to have a new chassis made up price wise, probably no more than a used G90 sells for on ebay, after that its all down hill. If everything can fit together, then all that's left is the electronics.
Again, a lot of work, but not impossible, and the result may just be worthwhile, since no one has ever attempted it

Hmmm, Nash held out on a Marquee auction.
While trying an XG 9" might be fun, I doubt it would be better than a 909 or G90.

It think it would definitely worth to put 9" tubes in an XG especially if it was an XG ...2, but as already said the metal work is the biggest concern.

Craig told me about the NEC that he calibrated. I will let him discuss his impressions.
Even if it was slightly better than a G90 or 909, there are to many variables in the transition to say that the performance would carry over.

I don't think the performance will carry over...
I think some of the NEC's ability to ghost less is because it is dimmer with the 8" tubes, or because it's a property of said 8" tubes. There isn't anything in the signal that would improve the ghosting, thus it will not carry over.
I do think a 9" NEC would be pretty awesome though.
