The Barco series of LC lenses consist of the following :

The HD-120 = The HD-10GT17
The HD-180 = The HD-10GT26
And I believe ...
The HD-300 = The HD-10L

The HFQ-900 that is made for Barco is reportedly a lens that is intended to give the high performance of the GT17 (resolution of 12 line pairs/mm) over a larger array of screen sizes. It can take the place of the GT17, the HD-10L, and HD-10E all by itself.

The standard HD-10 has a resolution rating of 10 line pairs/mm. I believe this is also
the rated resolution of the HD-10L and HD-10E, which are optimized for different screen sizes and throw distances.

Tom thanks, I always meant to do a Lens and a tube thread..........

(Tube thread I started on AVS its a start.....)

I will post some Lens pictures I have.

HD8 came in the following versions

HD8 - original Aliminium case, some glass elements ???
HD8 RevB - RARE - Aliminium housing, Newer plastic elements
HD8 RevB - Plastic housing - most common lens - more plastic elements i think ???
HD8 RevB - COLOUR FILTERED - MEGA RARE !!!

There was as always a "change over point" in the lens builds........

Between the Original HD8 and the Plastic HD8 RevB there were a number of original Aliminium Housings with the revB lens set.

The ONE lens that I have has BOTH stickers on it.......

Older lens types have the metal butterfly nuts, newer have the plastic nuts.

Im off to take some photos.......

(Kals gonna be busy!)

Usually I try and write color/colour and Aliminium/Aluminum - there are gonna be so many in this thread you just gotta go with what I write !

HD 145 - Colour Filtered Set - NOT ALL 144 and 145 are colour filtered.

You can tell by the obvious colour looking through the lens BUT also the Lens Label for green and red is Green or Red instead of the normal Silver.

Match the word to the picture please.........the pictures appear in reverse order.........

Sony 1292 and G90 use a HD10F - this is sometimes thought to be a HFQ900 - this is NOT confirmed.

However Barco call the Lens a HFQ900

I am under the understanding that these are "based" around an HD10E lens BUT have better edge focus and so "might" be hand picked with the tightest tolerance, or have a "special" outer focus system.

NOTE the HFQ900 has a platic front section on the Aliminium main body.

To colour filter these "Liquid Coupled" "LC" lens types you use a colour filtered "Critical" "C" Element

HD10L used for small screens in practice on a 1209s best suited to 4-6 foot wide screens

HD10GT17 / HD120 in practice on a 1209s best suited to 6 to 10 foot wide screens.

HD 8 pictures

Old original Aliminium Housing - MUCH more stable and LESS drift through Temp change, reported Better edge focus on the older lens types.

NOTE the plastic housing and Black plastic knobs on the newer versions

RARE HD8 RevB in a Aliminium housing - the original HD8 Label is underneath! this to "ME" proves the use of both new and old parts in a change over time - there are VERY FEW of these !!! I have ONE, not one set!

Rarest of course the HD8 Colour Filtered , fitted to Cine8 Onyx as I understand (maybe others)

Actually my above picture of the Colour filtered HD8 is Wrong..........

They DO exist but I do not have a picture of them.....

What I think THEY are is a very early set, newer lens use a "ML" "multi layer" coating and appear almost clear to the eye......

What they are is early "NON Multi layer" lens, which give off a coloured light when looked at..........

There is one well know guy here/avs - I think he works on optics, your guys might know his name, SORRY I forget.............

Im looking up some of my notes.........

EDIT - cant find my notes.........

Anyway, I dont wish to take credit that is due to others, I think it might be "Mark -A W" does that sound right ???

Anyway there was a very informative thread about NON ML lens features....Maybe someone can point us to that......

On with me picture...........

PS - YES I KNOW I got more lens than Pete !!! I have a lens fetish, Im begining to see the signs........MOST of these lens I have here! I guess Curt has some more.............

Maybe the early 9 inch manual conv Barcos ?

Curt???

NOTE : These EARLY 9 inch LC Lens have a squared off front end, Later HD10 style have an angled front edge.

HD 144's ALL colour filterd in this set.

The "Complete set" are from an NEC projector - they put a WHITE ring round them, not sure why, Maybe like barco to make them slightly different to other brands - Maybe even USPL insist on a change ???

(NOTE TO SELF - need to add NON colour filtered of HD 144/145 and show how really sad you are to have them all!!!)

PS - DONT KNOW WHY these pictures dont show like the others.......
