It was a barder deal with andres in spain. it was the first time he packed lens'. And hes a real nice guy so I dont want to pester him. have to ask if he insured them. well i guess first think is to test on screen. I wanted these for my blend set up. I could try a hybrid lens set up I know have four good gt 17 and a set of straight HD10's what if i put the straight 10s on the blue and the rest on the other colors? it might work dont you think since the blues are going to be defocused any how?

Are the HD10 lenses that same I have a set of those I could try to remove these and swap them? Is it possible?

The first element of the HD10 lens is not the same as on the GT17. If you look at the radius of the visible side of the first element it is very clear they are different. The HD10L lens appears to have the same first element but I can't confirm that as I have only looked at the visible side of the lens.

I'm having trouble getting these "rennfast" links to work (do they work for you?)
Anyway looking for lens suggestions, I've got a couple retro808s that I'm going to try to blend, and I’m looking for a 48” tall (max) image projected from 9-12’ (I might go to 8’)
lens gurus...?

|

I've got my hands on some HD-10L's and they're giving me the size of image I want.
Here's the thing, I can't find part number info on 8"lc barco c-elements (Curt, Kal?) to see if I need a more appropriate c-element.
anybody know which c-elements are for the HD-10 family of lenses on PT18-244 (from what I've read like P-16) lc housings?

you need the HD 10 sized C elements, I don't think the Barco ones Fit unless the Barco LC units use the HD 10 lens's also,....now thinking back i do think they have the same lens's, its the Sony G70 and NEC LC's that have Different C- elements.

I don't know any of the barco's that had 8"lc's with the HD-10's - but didn't your beloved Marquee's use 8" MEC lc's with HD-10's? I wonder if the c-element's are the same?

reposting some stuff on the HD10 lens' from Galen and Tom W.:
| Tom W. wrote: | How do tell if the Delta HD10f is from a G90 or a 1292 ?
|
| Galen wrote: | The 1292 hd10f 's that I have seen all have a felt gripping surface applied around the barrels,
also. on later model lenses, there's a small print serial #, which I have observed the first
four numerals have always corresponded pretty closely to the PJ's build year. This has
been true for the hfq900's, gt17's. and several sets of 10f's that I have had thru here in the
last couple years.
I think there is a hRq900 that was made for curved screen. for the OP, these are all
9" lenses. I am using a curved screen (in the H direction only) for a gaming system,
with an old 1208 and HD8 lenses, and it's working out alright, there's a lot of curve,
so the corners aren't so sharp - but its just a driving game, so that doesn't matter... |
| Tom W. wrote: | Both made by Delta ? Seems like the lens design should still be the same ?

| Galen wrote: | I guess I am not the only insomniac around here! (and a very merry christmas to you as well!)
Anyhow - the G90 hd10f are much more similar to the hfq900's (hd10E) in extensive testing
here and at Terry's. They have a lot more 'depth of field' - if that is the right photographic term.
The 1292 lenses are good - don't get me wrong - but the later model design is more advanced in
AR coatings and the ability to have great uniformity of focus across the screen, and an amazing
ability (equivilent to the hfq900) to get good edge and corner focus on Terry's 'torus' 10' wide screen,
plus a greater range of screen widths before running out of focus...Good luck finding a set though..!
One thing I learned this year - somewhat unrelated - is that the HD120 lenses as supplied on the Cine9
(runco DTV-1200 and also the DTV-1101) are actually very impressive. We did a heads up
comparison here with the DTV-1200, and the HD120's seemed to have slightly better intra-scene
contrast than the hfq900, and could still obtain good corner focus. But they are limited in 'depth-of-field' and
workable screen sizes compared to the hd10f(g90) and hd10e(hfq900). I will be fine using them
on a 96"x54" screen though, that seems to be the ideal position.
Regards,
Galen

I'm sorry and speechless at the same time
Now I'm really worried cuase I bought a set from Andres in september too, didn't get them already, but they should be coming till the end of the week.
Did You explain Him the problem ? Maybe he could have mine shipped to your place as a refund, I would have understood.

Hello,
Is the 3M PDF still up? If I try to access it, I get a connection time out. I am an optical designer and would like to know a bit more about the design of the HD10-GT17s.

Although interesting, I was referring to the 41 page PDF mentioned in the 1st post. I was hoping for some details concerning lens radii, glasses used etc. Just out of curiosity

Just searched the 3M site and it appears it has gone missing...
It was more of a general article on lens design and not specific to any model.

Here's a link to the 3M document:
http://rapidshare.com/files/187236584/3M_CRT_Paper_explaining_Halation.pdf
Btw, USPL used to be the original author of that document, then Corning Inc. bought them, then 3M, and now the lens section has been transfered to 3M's Vikuiti devision.
I also found out what colored C-Elements are officially called: ECP filters (enhanced color purity filters). See attachment.
