I am also building a retro computer Smile
intel SE440Bx mobo (slot 1)
intel celeron 433 (had the opportunity to get a PIII 450, but the celeron has passive cooling)
intel pro/100 lan card
192MB RAM (3*64MB PC133, different kinds)
4,3GB quantum fireball lct08 (100% healthy Smile)
4x/8x CD-burner (SCSI)
Aureal vortex2 sound card (with the famous A3D ability Cool)
The only thing is missing is the right vga card (last year I give away my voodoo3...) now a geforce 4 mx sits in the agp.
Currently there is a win98 and a win2k installed on the computer (win2k is due to proper internet connectibility, and USB flash drive handling)

Before that I messed with a P1-MMX 200MHz machine, but the win2k went hell slowly...

I don't think I need to build a retro computer to be in this discussion, I have about 10 computers ranging from 1990 to 1998 that I consider "retro"

I have a Silicon Graphics Personal Iris 4D/35 Graphical workstation which is maxed out on ram (I believe 32 or 64MB), a 35MHz CPU, the network adapter, and the digital sound card in it (I dont remember what it is), it runs Irix and yes it still works with its massive 1.2GB double height 5.25" Hard drives! External CD-ROM and all

Then I have a compaq Presario 4704, Presario 4814, Deskpro 2000 tower with Pentium Pro 200MHz CPU (This compaq can take the special PII CPU that was made to prolong the life of Pentium Pro based PCs)

Got a couple old gateway essential desktops as well and a few others I cant remember off hand.

I also have 3 Pentium III Compaq Proliant DL380 G2 servers with dual PIII 1.4Ghz CPUs, 2GB ram in each, and no HDDs (whats the point of spending money on machines I dont use right?)

Then theres the newer age stuff... I have all in all about 20-30 P4/Pent D, Core 2, AMD Phenom II X4, Core 2 Quad, etc... PCs

The best part about every single computer I have? They ALL work, and aside from the P3 servers they all have a hard drive and anything below the PII PCs is using their original factory OS and software.

ALL of my computers (aside from the recent ones from 5 years and enwer) are maxed out to their best abilities for specification, fastest CPUs, max memory, and if they can have bigger hard drives, they do.

I get very nostalgic over unwanted computers because of the variety and variences between them. Its nice to pull out an old beast once and a while to take me back to the days of windows 95 and beyond!

Mr. Green

Cool collection!

Just won the bidding on 2 VRM modules. (Mr.Burns) Excellent(/Mr.Burns)

Unfortunately Ebay's retarded new policy won't allow me to bid on things that people flag as USA only. You can't even contact them!

There's 2 heat-sinks I want: http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=390315058896#ht_1749wt_698

But just because I'm in Canada I can't bid one them. Jeeze!
