|
|
My current Sony G70 green tube has almost no visible wear on the tube itself but clearly has a 16:9 wear when I project a full white 4:3 image. I can live with this as 99% of my movies are 16:0 anyway.
However if available I still would like a new(er) green tube without wear.
I am not prepared to pay a lot of $ as the entire projector did not cost more than $500.
Anyone?

Good luck with that request.
EVERYONE with a G70 or NEC XG set wants what you want. The best option is a set of new tubes for $1400, Terry is selling a few sets in the buy/sell section. Guaranteed you won't find a better one than what you already have on this site, sorry!

Yeah, a green tube with very light wear is rare enough... A green tube with zero wear (or large/light 4:3) wear for cheap doesn't exist. Seriously, you'd probably be more likely to find an entire projector with a nice green on the cheap than you would be to find a tube... Which is to say it isn't likely.

Many thanks for the appreciated responses.
Question:
I still have a set of Panasonic 8 inch LC tubes that once were part of a Barco Retro. That green tube is still in excellent condition. Would that Panasonic tube be a possibkle replacement for the Sony G70 Panasonic tube?
I am aware that I need to remove the Barco LC parts and attach the Sony G70 LC module which is a bit of a hassle.
But are these Panasonic tubes technically (form/fit/function) the same tubes?

Barco P16 tubes are not even close to the P16 tubes used in the G70 and NEC and are not interchangeable.

Oh, that's interesting, Terry.... I assumed (apparently incorrectly) that a P16 was a P16... How are the different? Just pinout, or is it more significant?
