Yes, it disappeared. Something to do with the legal issues that were initially mentioned with HDCP and protecting the rights of the crooks in Glorywood.

The analog sunset. This quote from a review of the Oppo BDP-93....

The BDP-93 will support 480i, 480p, 720p, 1080i, and up to 1080p 50 or 60Hz. It also supports 1080p 24Hz. The BDP-93 also supports NTSC and PAL systems for both disc playback and video output. If they make this a region free player, it will be the king of Blu-ray players. Even without being region-free, it still looks hard to beat.

The one little piece of information that is still not certain is exactly when the player will become available. We're hoping that it's before the end of the year as this will allow it to escape the analog sunset ruling which prevents players from outputting HD signals over their component outputs (this ruling goes into effect for players manufactured after 12/31/2010). But those who have embraced the power of HDMI won't have anything to worry about. But please, OPPO, don't make us wait TOO long!

Quote from HKmod :

You can order HDfury from resellers/distributors listed on HDfury.com reseller/distributor page.

If you are living in US/CA you can buy from Monoprice.com and Sewell.com til the 15dec.
We don't know yet if you will still be able to purchase from an US/CA distributor after this date.

Buying converter in the US/CA from a US/CA source will be a very difficult and risky purchase. Please consider buying oversea in the future for ANY kind of such converter, for your own safety.

You can still buy from the Taiwan manufacturer directly, order page will be fully functionnal on HDfury.com pretty soon.
As well as manuals, support, etc..

Sorry for the inconvenience.

I don't need one but this pisses me off. I should contact HKmod and have him ship me a case of them. He can collect the money over there and I'll brown paper bag them over here Laughing .......for a fee of course Wink

Hi All -

Sorry if my search missed the HD Fury 3 updates, but I got an interesting response from the HD Fury site's "contact us" last night and this morning I thought I should share. Looks like they will be selling the barren hardware that won't do anything without first being impregnated with firmware via USB. The firmware is yet to come...I'm guessing the US/CA approved firmware will be hobbled.

Matt

Hi –

To be clear: if I order one, it will come (albeit blank) in a few days. Sometime in the not-too-distant future your development team will provide a firmware I can use a USB port to install? I presume this firmware would (in US/CA) only allow reduced quality analog to be output? Given the projector I have only can be pushed to 1080i, that would be OK…just so I know.

Thanks again,
Matt

Subject: HDFury for education

Dear sir

Thank you for your interest in HDfury products
You recently contacted the HDfury commercial webform with the following inquiry:

Hi -
I am confused about whether or not HD Fury 3 units can be sold in the US anymore. I work at a university and have an older CRT projector I would like to feed with self-authored DVDs and potentially with educational blu-ray materials. Am I able to order and receive one of these units?

Thanks,
Matt Cline
Pittsburgh, PA

You can order any HDfury and/or accessories from our order page on HDfury.com
Simply click the Yellow/gold BUY button on the main page here: www.hdfury.com

Shipping is included in the price with express service and tracking number.
Delivery anywhere in the world in 2-4 days max.

The Dev Team is currently working on an updated design for US/CA countries, that will feature USB updatable firmware and will come blank. User will be able to flash firmware they need themselves.
However, HDfury is free to be bought, owned and used any where in the world.
The new product is for reseller in US/CA market.

Hope it helps

TomW / MC86: Have you actually received a blank HDFury3? How did you obtain and install the firmware? Thank you for any tips on working with the manufacturer.

sounds like monoprice would get the blank ones and have to flash the units to comply with the new law. retail customers would get the loaded versions.

I wonder how long it will be before you can list AND GET $500.00 on ebay for a used HD Fury 1.
Soon they'll be just like red c-elements. If someone needs it bad enough, they'll pay anything Laughing

Hi all -

Quick update: As of two hours ago, I started to actually fiddle with my ECP 4500 after it sitting here for 18months! As a part of this, I hooked up the HDMI from my DVD player to my arrived-last-week (via hdfury.com) HD Fury3. Out of the box it is outputting to my PJ and I can only presume is fully functional. I'm holding off on BR until after the PJ is working. My only other video playbacks are a 19" trinitron and a 800x600 LCrappyD.

Again, who knows when these will come blank or neutered to futility. Incidentally, there were (2) 6" long M-RGB x M-COM port cables that came with the HD Fury3 as well that I have no idea what they are for. They weren't mentioned on the HDFury site as being included. Of course, it came NIB straight from Taiwan with no manuals in the box. The box still points to support at this site, which has been removed indefinitely. I feel bad for Curt's loss of time and money.

Cheers,
Matt

So I asked the question earlier in this thread about the "Other" devices that defeat HDCP? I can only assume that ANY external device that does the same thing will fall prey to this new ruling. But what about the "internal" boards that are directly installed into projectors??? All those set top devices must fall under the same catagory as the Fury as they have a digital in and analog out port.

I'm wishing I'd gotten an HDF2/3 before this happened so I could do 3D. I haven't tried putting 720p120 on the HDF1 I have, but even if it works I'm afraid it will burn out quickly.
