Does the USB port work with an IR emitter or is that dependent on the display?

There is no IR emitter with the 3D-Gamer. The 3D-Gamer works with DLP link 3D glasses. DLP Link is a special synchronization system built into 3D Ready DLP projectors. The glasses link to the projector without any special emitters or 3rd party transmission devices.

Future 3D products announced here will work with other types of setups.

thank you for your reply i would like to apolagise for my outburst but i tend to get very excited when i think there my be a way to use the acer 1130p projector for 3d gaming with my ps3 for such a price as a new projector is out of my money range again sorry

Most likely, with the newer 3D products that we'll be announcing in the near future. Stay tuned!

Ah okay, thanks. That rules out using it with a 120 Hz CRT then. Too bad. Maybe you should make a note of it on the store page.

Make a note of what exactly?

The order page states:

Quote:
To experience 3D games using 3D-Gamer you need:

- A PS3
- A DLP projector or TV with an HDMI input that supports 720p at 100/120Hz

Quote:

This part is ambiguous. Apparently it means this:
"A DLP projector or DLP TV with an HDMI input that supports 720p at 100/120Hz"

I took it to mean this:
"A DLP projector or a TV with an HDMI input that supports 720p at 100/120Hz"

My mistake.

I've fixed the text to hopefully not be ambiguous!

All information will be launched once it's official. Doing anything else results in a million questions and too much speculation and just confuses the issue.

I know the description says that no blu ray via ps3 will work. Does the ps3 output 720p60 in blu ray? If that was the case would it work?

There's no 3D Blu-ray vs PS3. Regular Blu-ray works fine.
The PS3 outputs whatever resolution you have it set to.

The 3D-Gamer will not work with any 3D Blu-ray movies in the PS3. That'll be covered in an upcoming product. The 3D-Gamer is only for playing 3D games from the PS3 on 3D compatible DLP projectors/TVs. A 3D compatible DLP projector/TV is one that can do 720p at either 100Hz or 120Hz.

Hi guys!

I just confirmed with the manufacturer that they are now shipping out 3D-Gamer units. The first shipped should start arriving in customer's homes later this week.

There's no list as it would be massive and changing constantly with new projectors being added all the time.

If your projector or TV uses DLP, and supports 720p at either 100Hz or 120Hz then it will work.

The easiest way is to check your manual.

Should all of the pre-ordered units have shipped, or will they be shipped in batches? If it's the latter, any idea how long the catch-up will be (when the last of the pre-orders should ship)?

I don't know as the manufacturer ships directly from Florida. They monitor this thread and forum so they'll be able to respond and provide more details.

If a customer were to purchase this item, will there be some sort of arrangement (trade-in/ upgrade price) to get the 3D explorer?

Shipments commenced as promised on 1/25/11 and we should be caught up with all pre-order shipments by 2/4/11. We are providing an installation guide via email upon shipment release. Therefore, everyone whose order is being shipped will get a tracking number and an email with the installation guide, on the day of the shipment.
