Morning All,

I am learning the limitations of my only HD DVD player and the market for acquiring certain movies on that platform. Comparatively, I am thinking of getting the titles on BD, and in some cases this may include my buying a non North American region player (or region free player) and buying the title from overseas.

I have yet to get Mulholland Drive, but I know I will at least need to replace Batman Begins, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, etc.

Actually, I thought I came across a copy of MD on ePrey for $60, but that seems extreme compared to the UK release on BD which is 20 pounds. I also noticed some UK/Amazon BD players in the <100 pounds catagory and I am thinking of trying that route.

Has anyone else done this format comparison as part of a personal catalog conversion/migration?

I did the Warner Bros. red2blu conversion but that was like $2 per disc plus shipping and you got to keep the HD DVDs.

I really dont watch that many movies more than once save for some family friendly animated movies.

I have HD DVDs and BRs I have never opened.

why dont you buy a bluray burner and convert the hd-dvd to bluray. It is a lossless conversion and is cheap way to do it. You own it on hd-dvd so why double dip.

Better yet...just rip them as ISO for future use and ditch the disc.

I need to see if the Oppo 93 will play HD DVD ISOs....
