The title says it all. 6 month old x box 360, bought for the nieces and nephews to use MAYBE 25 total hours on it, the only output that works is rca. Take it back to Gamestop they say it can probably be repaired but at what cost no one knows, but at least 50 bucks to find out.

BUY A PLAYSTATION !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Xbox 360 has a one year warranty.

Sorry you got a bum unit.
Is there a reason they wouldn't honor it?

Cause gamestop isnt the company warrantying the unit, you have to call Microsoft. FYI a playstation would be treated the same way from gamestop.

I agree - there is the yellow light of death on the PS3.. All I know is I have 2 PS3s and 1 xbox 360. Both PS3s have been 100% rock solid (one fat, one slim). The xbox has been nothing but problems...

Getting a bum units sucks, regardless of what it is.

I've had my Xbox360 for years (before the ring-of-death). When my Xbox finally bricked, Microsoft was very professional about the warranty. They shipped me a box, and paid for shipping both ways.

I haven't had any further problems. and I'm quite happy with my Xbox.

Was this a new unit or a used unit that Gamestop sold you?

Too bad they're not as good at designing the damn things in the first place!

starting with the hdmi units in 2009 (falcon chipset?) they've been a ton better. I'm surprised you're having problems with one only 6 months old. I wonder if it's an older stock? does it have hdmi out?

Jeff you should have waited till the Xbox slim came out. Sleeker, quieter, Built in wireless N, built in hard-drive. NOt that I am true fan of the Xbox but I do like this new configuration.

RCA is a commonly used physical connector that is applied to both audio and video. Re-reading your original post I do not know if you are saying the Composite, Component, or RGBhv output has failed, or if the HDMI interface has failed. Also, I do not know if you bought this new or used.

You do a good job at proving almost no information.

Call 1-800-4-MYBOX and talk to MAX the automated moron. The system will bounce you to a human after you get MAX to understand you have a problem that he/it can't help you with. The last box I sent in was an Elite I bought on ebay for cheap. I didn't get a prepaid label and empty box like I did with my old Premium I sent in. They had it for about 3 weeks and I'm pretty sure they sent me another console instead of repairing mine.

360 has Forza 3. My guess is that Gran Turismo Forev.... err, Gran Turismo 5 won't be out until the PS4 has launched.

And it'll still suck.

The original XBoxes were pretty much POS, with the RRoD. I tried fixing a bunch of them via CL, did about 40 or so, but all came back within 3 months of doing the nut and bolt repair. The only way to repair these is to reball the CPU and video chips, and I don't have the gear to do that, it's about $40K to do it properly.

The later 360s with the HDMI output did indeed have M$ putting much larger heatsinks on the chips, c/w a freon tube from one area of the heatsink to another to provide even cooling, but now I'm seeing even those on eBay with the RRoD, although not as much as the original ones. I managed to score a free 360 Elite that wouldn't read the discs, and lucked out by simply cleaning the layer of dust off the laser. Very Happy

The PS3 and 360s fall right into my lifespan expectancy of anything electronic, 2-5 years from the date of purchase.
