Guys,

Someone posted this about CRTs over in the "other" forum. He has an alarming propensity to make crap up when it suits him, and since I know nothing about CRTs, I figure someone here would have to know if this were true, quasi-true, or total B.S.:

As I understand it, flicker isn't even an issue unless you have some sort of pulse-driven display (like CRT or plasma) in a room with lighting that's also pulse-driven (like fluorescent lights), and the lights are operating on a different refresh frequency than the display. But either way, is the above description anywhere near correct? If anything is incorrect, would you mind correcting me or him and helping to get the facts straight?

Are you asking about vertical refresh rates ?

I don't remember hearing anything about this for North American CRT RPTV's but Europe had some that were 100Hz. As far as I can tell that was only when you ran a 576i signal into them
