when i stop using my marquee i always unplug it.
now when i plug it back in it always takes a minute or so before the pj responds to the remote (not wired).
is this normal or can this lead to bigger problems.

Interesting. Stupid question, but are you sure the batteries are OK in the remote? I know the pj does funky things when the batteries get low. Does it do the same thing when you have it in wired mode?

no it isnt the batteries i always had this odd behaviour of the remote even with new batteries.
i use regular 1 1/2 volt batteries (duracell) and they are quality batteries.
in wired mote the pj fires up instantly as soon as i press the power button.

Hello
IR commands are detected in the IR sensor and acted upon by the control board. If the orange ready light is on then the projector should react. Next time you plug in, see if the remote is causing the diagnostic "C" led to flash on the rear panel.

i looked at the c led on the clm and indeed it doesnt flash.
after 1 minute it responds to the remote, flashes and the pj turns on.
i have the part that dragan mentioned in order and as soon as i have replaced that cap i will report back.
c145 on the clm.

the strangest thing happened.
i replaced 2 caps on the lvps rated 470uf 35v with same value but 50v near the output.
i plugged in the pj and the remote responded immediately.
i still will replace c145 on the clm but i didnt expect a cap change on the lvps could cause this or perhaps its just a fluke.

The lvps provides Standby Power to the control board, the wired keypad if installed, and the IR sensor, so the projector in the Off condition can listen for a Power On command. You must have changed something that affected standby power.

makes perfect sense.
makes me wonder how many more caps are dying on the lvps though.

I believe those caps are in the flyback section of the LVPS. Mike and others will tell you that updating the flyback section will do wonders for the pj. The other caps not so much, as the inductors handle any noise. The caps in the flyback section however, are critical for noise reduction and reliable voltage.

I have. I also added a 100uH inductor to the -85V line as well. Others up the value on some of the caps, but I left the values alone and just upped the voltage rating and quality in the flyback section.

Yes, but not all the wimas are in the flyback converter section. I only replaced C68 and C62.

Dennis, I would not go lower than 100V. I got all of my stuff from mouser.com. For the WIMAs, part number 505-MKS4.47/100/10P.

ok i thought i got rid of this problem but it is still there.
i replaced the tant dragan mentioned and it didnt help out.
the time it takes for the remote to respond depends on how long the pj has been unplugged.
ie: the pj is unplugged 12 or more hrs it takes approx 1 minute, when the pj has been unplugged <6hrs the pj responds at once.
if no one knows how to get rid of this problem its just bad luck cause the pj works flawless.
