you can just send me the files. I have a programer Wink

But I'm ok for now. My Long bows I think have a slight different firmware. I should read them and send you the files to compare.

One set left!!!!

I will now order some more to me made. A few CRT'rs that do not frequent or are not members ordered some!! there are more die hard CRT's guys out there!!!

So if you place an order after the last set is sold there may be a long delay till the manufacture gets the bellows made and shipped to me.

Thanks to Everyone who inspired me and helped me get this project off the ground and a success !!!

I estimate over a 100 marquees may have been saved ! Very Happy

7 or 8 months ago i had to go take my blue tube out of my 1997 Vidikron.

It was full of fungus, and the belows were swetting like crazy, i was in a hurry, so i just removed the front housing and Celement, and washed out the below and housing, removed all fungus, and found the aluminium to look like new.

I mounted it all back, and filled new glycol.

After 14 days i noticed some water perls on the below, and was thinking crap i should have changed the below.

Today i remembered the old below, and thought i better take off the cover and see how bad it looked.

Surprice.. its all dry, so now i wonder, was it just water on the below, as glycol will never dry out and be dry as this is now.

Also i re used the old fill screws, black ones, and now 7-8 months later there is no sign of any fungus in the chamber or from the screw holes.

Ill try keep track how goes in the future, and post about it here.

Hi, long time no visit! I put a set of your bellow in, oh, roughly 2 years ago and before I did it, I painted the insides of the LC chambers with...something black. I don't actually recall if it was VHT paint or something else and I won't pretend I do.

It appears that I'm going to have to redo the job now, on blue at the very minimum as I FINALLY decided it was time to change my lenses back to GT17s (Having been running Fs for a while and never having been satisfied with edge focus) and when I pulled the blue lens off, I was greeted with the unwelcome sight of obvious fungus/corrosion in the chamber, and also evidence of a very slow glycol leak. The fluid is discolored enough that you can see the difference across the tube face. Green is also not quite perfect as well.

Do you have any specific recommendations as to whether or not I should attempt to reuse your bellows? Money is super tight right now (the company I worked for closed its doors, leaving me unemployed) so I'd rather reuse the bellows if I can get it out in one piece. I'll probably use silicone to seal it this time, although I did not use any silicone when I installed them and 2 out of three did NOT leak.

Wow, here's a blast from the past! Smile

Sorry about the job loss as well.

I wouldn't silicone them. What I find is that the new bellows have those 3-4 ridges which should be more than enough to seal the C elements properly. ANY bit of residue on the back of the C elements causes leakage though. Is that where the leak is coming from? I do have new clear C elements if you have one that's damaged.

I will not be sure where that leak is coming from until I take the assembly down and make a detailed teardown inspection.

I'm going to need some glycol, too. I'm out. Do you have any you sell in suitably small quantities? I don't really want to buy another gallon from Fisher.

Do you have any recommendations as to whether or not one of your bellows can (or should) be re-used if it's removed?

I haven't removed it yet but I expect that it'll be squashed at the mounting surfaces.

I want to try that new coolant that's being tested, too. The one with the corrosion inhibitor in it.

I found a partially used can of black VHT paint on my paint shelf so yes, I used it in my LC chambers.

My HD10F lenses are still available for sale!

Not sure. I am sure it should be ok. Maybe the second time it might need silicon.

But the Ice clear is non corrosive. So maybe it will be fine even if it leaks a little.

Hi Guys, this is my first time posting. I have been a CRT owner for about 15 years. Thanks for all the helpful information. I just changed out the bellows on my 9500LC. After about a month the new Glycol turned an amber color. I took a new bellow, placed it in a plastic container covered it with new glycol left it to soak for a month, the glycol also turned an amber color. I there any way to stop this from happening? Has this happened to anyone before?

Did you completely wash the bellow, and ensure it was free of release agent, before placing it in the glycol?

Wash with warm water and mild dish soap until the water stops being cloudy, and you no longer see any white residue on the bellow itself.

After this, it should not react with any optical coupling fluid negatively.

The bellows are attached to the tubes. Should i fill the tube with soapy water let soak then drain and rinse with clean water a number of times before refilling with glycol

Hmmmmmmm.
Can you remove the front metal plates?
If you can, use a soft sponge, new from a pack, and make a soap and water solution. Scrub everything down very well.

Just soaking the inside won't really help.
Any colored glycol should be changed....
