Toshiba wants admission to the Blu-ray Disk Association.
Personally, I'd let them eat their HD DVD cake and deny them BDA access. Like Cartman taking his ball and going home.

You're joking, right? It was just business. There were two competing CE alliances. One won and the other lost. If the roles had been reversed, Sony would now be talking about building HD DVD players... Just like they built VHS VCRs after Beta was no longer viable.
Personally (and I'm sure the BDA will agree), I say the more, the merrier. The Toshiba HD DVD players were pretty good pieces. I still really like my XA1... It was slower than hell, but the build quality was excellent. If Toshiba builds a BD player of similar quality to the XA1 or XA2, then that's a good thing. Should be yet another good player from which to choose.

Really, why shouldn't Toshiba get into the BR player market. I had the XA2 and I thought it was a great player. Just because they lost out doesn't mean they should be denied access to the BR market. What does Sony care it just means more money in their pockets.

Exactly. If anything, it's a day of celebration for Sony... You'd shake hands and say, "Welcome to our side!", not throw them out! Denying them membership would be just plain dumb.

You didn't read Wan's post from back then, go look it up, it was called "Boycott Sony VHS players".

Yeah, no sh$t. It isn't like Toshiba and Sony have never hooked up before.

Curt, mine is still working (I think), but then again I haven't used it in several months. SC, of course I am joking. Dave, not funny.
