Hey,
A co-worker who works in my claims department has a claim to replace a Dwin 4e
http://www.projectorcentral.com/DWIN-TransVision_4E.htm
As it is no longer made the insurance is trying to find a projector to replace it with. What would be today's version of this unit be? It's apparently expensive, but the spec's aren't impressive.
Thanks in advance for the advice!

To replace it with a like 720p DLP brand new shouldn't cost over $1500. Digital Dave raves about the Optoma HD7100. Check and see if you can get a new one of those.

The Dwin 4e was a really pricy one.
As it would be an insurance claim, they try to replace it with the same sort of thing. So probably whatever the succeeding model was.

Never mind it was only $4000-$6000 at it's most expensive (2005). That was at it's release. You are right $1500 is lots. I think the guy is trying to pull one over on the claims guy. He'll be really happy when he see's what I've been looking at. I think I just saved my company several thousand dollars.

Well, they are problemattic, so not for the faint of heart! Good bang for the buck though.
Actually, you should be able to get a new high end guy.
One dude here lost his ECP over a year ago. New it was over $10,000. Couple years ago it was worth <$1K. His insurance company bought him a new $10,000 PJ (Sony Ruby).
So, I'll look into a JVC RS20 or so.

DOn't forget we're talking about an insurance company here, they don't exactly want to give anything over the absolute minimum if they can help it or get away with it.
