No kidding...Can you post the log after the first analyze. Its weird that disk only has 2 channel audio. It will not work if that is the case. The only way to make the lossless search work was to not use any 2 channel audio. I guess I could make it fall back to 2 channel if a multi-channel is not found. I've just never seen a disk authored that way.

Code:
3: AC3 Surround, English, 2.0 channels, 192kbps, 48khz, dialnorm: -27dB
4: AC3, French, 1.0 channels, 192kbps, 48khz, dialnorm: -27dB
5: AC3, Spanish, 1.0 channels, 192kbps, 48khz, dialnorm: -27dB
6: AC3 Surround, English, 2.0 channels, 192kbps, 48khz, dialnorm: -27dB

Yepper that's the problem...That movie only has 2 channel audio...That's a first for me.

http://www.blu-ray.com/movies/National-Lampoons-Christmas-Vacation-Blu-ray/189/

You should be able to manually rip it with the command line button if you check the first audio track. But you will still need to remux with mkvmerge gui...Its not really very hard. There is a good guide on how to use it in Jiff Orange's thread. His method is what I used as the basis for the GUI.

Try another disk if you have one.

Mark...Make sure you select the aspect ratio before you press the add batch button. Selecting it after will have no effect because the batch has already been added to the list.

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

This happened when I tried to scroll the little bar below the preview window.

BTW what application is used for previews because it wasn't working for me...

If the file will play in Windows Media Player then it should play in the preview window.

Thanks, I didn't know that...I haven't tried it yet, I have a new disk to rip tonight....I can test it then.

anyone know a reference that lists the correct stream to choose when ripping?
most of the time it's obvious based upon length which one is the correct stream, but sometimes there's multiples with the same length.
for example UP, the third stream was the correct (full english) one.
and in Public Enemies, there's 2 streams with the same length and i'm just guessing which one is the correct one....

Hi all,

I will be getting a bluray player for my pc at Christmas and will shortly after start ripping my bluray collection.

Have been doing a lot of research trying to figure out the best way to do this and stumbled across this thread.

My htpc will have a video card (ATI 5750) that supports AC-3, AAC, Dolby TrueHD and DTS HDMaster Audio.

I want to make sure I do this right the first time so I don't end having a lot of rework.

My goals are to extract and make a mkv that contains:
- If it exists, both the HD audio track as well as the AC3 or DTS core track.
- Main movie
- forced subtitles

Can Another EAC3to GUI Plus can do all of this? The one thing I couldn't quite tell from reading here is if it is possible to pick and choose one or more audio tracks - is this possible? Do you need to use the command line interface to do this?

Another thing I am confused about is this converting the HD audio to flac. What is the purpose of doing this? Can you just keep the 'native' format? With the video card mentioned above, will I have any issue playing flac?

I am I correct in understanding, that as long as I have all the supporting sofware installed, Another EAC3to GUI Plus is a one stop solution, in that it will read the source files and pull out the requested tracks and create an mkv?

Thanks for helping a newbie.

No at present if a lossless track in the default language exists on the disk it re-encodes lossless audio tracks to bit-perfect FLAC, otherwise uses legacy DD or DTS. You can select AC3 or DTS core but not both. It actually has issues if there is not an audio track on the disk that is not in the default language or if the disk does not have a multi channel audio track. You can overcome this issue by using the command line button selecting the audio track then remuxing with MKVMerge. This and a few other things I will address on the next release.

FLAC at present has very reliable playback support on free players. There are some free player/codex solutions in the works for playing native HD audio, last I heard they were not 100% reliable and they will require an ATI 5xxx card and an HDMI receiver. I do understand you can output FLAC LPCM to your receiver however I’ve never tried it, I still use analog out to the multi-channel inputs on my Pre/Processor.

For what you want you may want to look at ClownBD since you have the hardware that supports bit-streaming. I've never used it, but I think it can leave the HD audio tracks intact, then it re-muxes to TS stream. I have no idea how soon a reliable free player will be available for bit-streaming HD audio.

Thanks,

In your first paragraph, I think we are talking the same thing, but I am not sure I undertand exaclty what you mean when you say, "you can select AC3 or DTS core but not both".

To be clear, I do not want to capture both AC3 and DTS core at the same time. What I want is the HD track, plus one core track (either AC3 or DTS depending on what the bluray contains).

So, is the command line and remux with mkvMerge the way this needs to be done?

If flac works well, is bit perfect and is more compatible, I would be fine with that. Was just wondering about it, is all.

Thanks a lot.

In the options dialog you can select to extract lossless audio tracks and convert to FLAC or AC3/DTS but not both...Not yet at least.

Yes you would need to use the command line button and select the track, then remux with MKVMerge GUI. If you need to go that way you might want to look at HD Stream Extactor. Some people like it for those tasks.

Thanks a lot. I was looking at HD Stream extractor and then came across this program. I like the way you can view the different video streams. But for my needs, at present, it may be that HD extractor is more suited to what I need. Will likely give them both a trial run.

I appreciate the screen shots. Normally I would test this type of stuff on my own, but not only will I be getting the bluray at christmas, I will also be rebuilding my machine, so I don't feel like downloading and configuring everything now.

Do you know if it does forced subtitles 'automagically'?

I don't think so...You have to run them threw bdsup2sub manually. One thing you can do is look at the log eac3to produces and see if it reports any forced subs.

Using the command line button with this app does not do anything with forced subs...It just extracts them.

Thanks again. After re-looking at your screen shots on page 1, picking both the HD and core audio tracks at the command line looks dead simple.

To me, having the forced subs included automatically is more important than having to use a couple of interfaces. So, I think my first try will be this program, command line to extract both HD and core, and then use MKVMerge GUI to remux.

Thanks.

Sorry...If you use the command line button you still will need to run the subs threw bdsup2sub. The only way to get forced subs right now is with the fully automatic remux method...Currently it only extracts FLAC or AC3/DTS.

okay gottcha. I will have to look into bdsup2sub then. Is bdsup2sub fairly easy to use? Again, just looking to add forced subtitles.

The person who can get all this down and working in one program - or at least one interface, will be my hero. Smile

Yes..It's very easy, it does require Java. Start the program (.jar) then drag the .sup file into it. When it load it will tell you if there are forced subs. Then export the file to an idx that MKVMerge accepts. You can position the subs within the image area with a few more clicks.

Make sure if you use the command line button to turn off the "Delete work files after MKVMerge" in the options dialog. Or else the file get deleted after the command line runs...It's one of the bugs I need to clean up.
