Crying or Very sad My Marquee 9500LC just began flickering. It goes from brite to dark and now it remains dark most of the time. Anyone have an idea as to what it could be? I'm thinking my Moome card is acting up.

How do the internal test patters look? Especially the all white field.
And can you hook up a RGBHV source(PC) to see if it is indeed the moome card?

Yes, I hooked up the RGBHV card and the problem is no longer there. Oddly though, I have to keep the bright setting on zero. If I try to increase the brightness it actually goes dimmer. The contrast seems to be working fine.?? The Moome card worked fine for months. This all started after I tried using a PS3 player. I wonder if it's coincedence or if the PS3 somehow affected the projector.
I talked to Curt. He suggests checking the HVPS because when the projector was shipped, it had a glycol leak. All the tubes were sent out and redone with new seals. The projector was working beautifully. Curt seems to think that maybe the glycol contaminated a chip or board.?? Thanks for your suggestions Athanasios!!

this could be a long shot but try to clean all the contacts of the separate boards on the CLM and all the chips on it as well , pay attention to chip U7 on the DPB. aslo clean the HDM daughter board conectors.

Should I use isopropyl alcohol on all the contacts?

you can but i use denatured alcohol.... Aso use DeOxit, you can find this at radio Shack.

Try the other CLM, you'll need to redo Set up again but you'll be able to tell right away.

Also you could try the HDM from the 8500 after the CLM if nothing changes.

Ps3 has grounded powerlead, so does projector(at least it should be connected to groundet outlet). There is change that when you tested PS3, you created groundloop between projector (moome card) and PS3. That could do some damage to moome card or to vim.
I would start testing vith another Vim, and with different source.

Thanks everyone. It seems that there was a groundloop. I removed the Moome module and reinstalled it. It just so happens that it's working again. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Maybe the Moome mod wasn't damaged. Very Happy

Well, the Moome card worked for a couple of days then my dark picture returned. I sent the Moome card to be repaired (don't really know if there is something wrong with it) and I also ordered a second Moome for my Marquee Ultra. I was amazed that I received the new card within 5 days. Anyway I installed the new card and my picture was awesome for a day. The next day my picture looked like a photo negative on both TV and DVD and my utilities menue was gray with red letters?? I talked to Curt and he suggested I change out the VIM (I took it out of my 8500 I had laying around) and It worked. I'm putting this on the forum in case someone else has this problem. Laughing

IT's very unusual for a Marquee VIM to go bad but it does happen once in a blue moon.
the most common failure in a marquee is high voltage power supply. Luckilly both of these parts are some of the ones you can swap between an Ultra and older marquee. A lot of the others you cannot.
