|
|
I received my new Blu-Ray player the other day.
The problem I was having with the Samsung is still happening with the new Marantz.
I can watch the HD Directv receiver with no problems.
However, when I switch to any blu-ray player, the handshake led starts to blink and then goes out...yet the input signal led stays lit.
The pj never lights up.
I have swapped the HDMI cable from both sources to the switcher, and the problem stays with the player.
It seems as though neither player's HDMI output is turned on...and I can't seem to get them to turn on. Is this a function of the handshake?
Any ideas???

A little update.
Tonight I took both the old Samsung bdp1200, and the new Marantz 8002 blu-ray players over to a friend's and we connected them to his Pioneer Plasma display.
They both work just fine, so the problem is with the blu-ray players and the HDMI card.
Wonder why the handshake from the blu-ray would be different than from the Directv receiver???

Greetings Moome,
I have the XG-fullhd.
Edit: Moome,
Here's the history on this problem...everything was working perfectly, until I unplugged the HDMI input to the card (everything was shutdown).
It took me one full day to reroute all my cables up in the attic. The next day I plugged it all back in, and now the blu-ray players will not handshake with the XG's HDMI card.
I have tried a short cable with the blu-ray at the back of the pj, and as I say, this is happening with two different brands of blu-ray players, and with three different HDMI cables.
Yet the satellite receiver has worked with the HDMI card after the reconnection...it's just these blu-ray players.
I have also taken both players to a Pioneer Plasma display and connected them, they both worked perfectly.

Correct, HDMI satellite receiver works...HDMI blu-ray players do not work.

I just found another interesting thing that's happened through all this.
For the first time since this handshake problem has started, I tried to rent a movie the other night and the HDMI card would not allow me to watch it!
I kept getting a "parental lock" advisory on my screen. I checked the Directv receiver, and it's parental lock is off. I then called directv, and as I suspected, if their lock is off, then it's the monitor/ input card that's setting a movie rating.
I don't see any way to change that setting, then again, since I didn't receive any sort of manual with this card (is there one?) perhaps I don't know the way to access that feature?
Edit: I just sent Moome an e-mail ( it seems the only way to reach him is now through this site?) hopefully I can send it in for repair...it's about time to get this system back up and running.
