Noise reduction isn't very difficult.
I've mounted most fans with blu-tack between them and the chassis, no more humming.
The top exhaust fans have been replaced by silent Papst fans.
I wonder if you have ABL activated, when I do so the neck board 'mute' the video signal.
It looks like a heat problem here, a cold 1292 has no problem but after 30 minutes the muting starts.
However without active ABL I can watch movies as long as I want without any streaking problems

I have only one jumper, when it is on the small pcb near the 12cm fan my green and blue neck boards mute the signal.
It's strange that the red neck board has no problems, didn't I have one neckboard that's a different type?

I'm looking for known scenes on bd or hd dvd where the streaking is very clear visible.
5th element starts with a flying comet that has a very disturbing horizontal tail.
Subtitles and the white on black text after movies are free of streaking here.

test Iron Man
or use windows xp starfield screensaver-- there is the best streaking test
run it and look into the tubes

Do you have different neck boards then I have?
Maybe your red is the same and blue/green are different?
I think I'll leave ABL disabled as it gives no problems and the best picture (and better colour balance).
Next is getting rid of some noise on the background on all tubes when no picture is displayed.
It looks like 480i lines but then moving slowly from top to bottom ....
Also best visible on blue in bright scenes.

Andre, one of my 1292’s was so prone to streaking, before the mod, you could see some level of streaking in practically any movie! I am surprised you don’t have a list of movies to test with! Or maybe you machine did not streak as bad a mine did?
I still remember the day I installed my 1292! The first movie I tested with “THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING”, my favorite movie for testing audio/video, had a huge streak through the ring as it bounced to the ground. After realizing the cause was the 1292 I felt like throwing up! The projector was removed and the 1252 re-installed.

My 1292 isn't that bad with streaking and I can make the room dark enough to lower the brightness.
Considering the other problem's I've had with it (I bought it disassembled and not working!) the streaking was a minor flaw
More important to me was that I had a blue tube with very low emission for a long time

Hi Rogue,
I am very excited reading this thread! Recently upgraded my Barco 808 to a too cheap to be true 1292. I found it gave glorious 1080P but suffers badly from streaking on any bright object on a dark background e.g. anything in space and all movie credits.
I'm in Singapore with limited electrical skills, but plenty of patience. Please let me know when you are ready to sell/ship.
Of course it still sounds like a vacuum cleaner hanging from the ceiling but I might now be motivated to try a fan mod...
Cheers
Lachlan

I will be happy to make the mod compatible with the G90 if someone is willing to send me their spare neck board to inspect and modify. I have the schematics and artwork however without detailed layout drawings I can’t design the physical layout of the mod board.
So if anyone has a spare board and is interested please let me know!

I just bought a 1292 with 1800 hours and all three tubes in clean shape. I'd like to install the streaking repair modification before I take out my 1272 and replace it with the 1292. Is there a kit and/or instructions available?
Thanks
Colin
