Or is there another way to embed a youtube video into a post? Copying and pasting the code from youtube doesnt work.

Don't they have Youtube video encoding on Facebook? People are always posting youtube vids you can watch on FB.

It would at least help get the point across. I don't see how it would be a disadvantage to the site any.
I would love to know what the video is so I can ignore it with clear conscious rather than just ignore it because it is from Ron.
Seeing a screen grab with a title is so much better than looking at some non-descriptive youtube url.
I think the purpose of embedding is so that people don't have to leave the website which in turn makes for better advertising revenue...right?

Obviously some would abuse this. But still it will let me know I am avoiding your posts for good reason.

Ok, Kal...here is the way you do it. I just did it in like 10 sec. It is super simple assuming you have the same version I have...which you might not.
http://www.lifehacker.com.au/2007/08/adding_a_youtube_tag_to_phpbb3_1/
It does take a bit of user skill as the youtube video ID is required instead of just copying and pasting the embed code.
So instead of posting this:
<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/yd9XnyNGXGs&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/yd9XnyNGXGs&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>
You simply post this:

Which requires looking in the original youtube url and copying and pasting that nonsense video ID.
I can confirm that it works on phpBB 3.0.6.

THanks Greg. phpBB 3 offers easy ways to add new BBCodes. There's no programming required. Unfortunately we're running phpBB 2 here with over 80 mods installed. Going to phpBB 3 would require recreating the 80 or so mods (hundreds of hours of work and testing).
Hence the reason I'd rather stick with phpBB 2 for the time being.

I'm an idiot, I just read your post directly above my last post.
NVM. 80 mods is a ridiculous amount of time.
Did you try this one?

It is for version 2.0.19. Which version is the current forum?
