Anyone have any experience with Carls' Place and his screen materials?
http://www.carlofet.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=25

I went ahead and ordered a piece of material 9'x6.75' seamless to build a portable 8'x6' screen. He has the 2"x 60' adhesive backed felt strip for borders. I'll let you all know what the material is like when I see it.

Definately great. I used 8' 1x4 maple lumber to do the frame for the screen. Instead of "fastening" the material to the frame I used white 3/4" reveal J-Channel for vinyl siding which fits on the edges very firmly yet can be pulled back off. With the help of my brother we stretched the material to the desired tauntness and pressed on the 4 edges. The entire screen can be taken apart in minutes down to the 8' long frame & J-Channel pieces. The screen is currently in a friends tavern (since the Superbowl) along with my Runco (Zenith) Cinemapro 750. I like to stop in on Sundays for the NASCAR race. Thumbs Up

That is who we bought ours from as well for a 17'x12.75' screen (bought two pieces and had a lady local to us seam them). Worked extremely well.

I tested this material head to head against Wilsonart DW and commercial screens. DW simply spanked this stuff.

It is pretty weak. Given it costs $25 for about the same size as DW for $85 (and the price is even closer for wide CIH set ups--$55 vs. $85) I think the DW is a no brainer. WELL WORTH the extra $30-$60 (depedning on screen size).

Person99: I think I spent a little less than that. Our big issue was for a screen the size we wanted, the price difference would have been quite larger (between the sturdier material and larger surface). Then of course came the issue that, being an outdoor screen, we would have had a pain in the butt time of taking it down and storing it.

Looking at some of the screen/board coatings and seeing what I can read up on them - though I am happy overall with the effect we got with the blackout material.

If I get around to doing a permanent indoor screen though... that's a different story.
