I have this older Proxima 5800 desktop projector, the lamp went poof in it years ago and i bought just the lamp and kept the reflector, dug out the old one from the ceramic that it was burried in. put a new one in along with the plaster, let it dry overnight and wired it back up to the lamp housing. powered it up and it lit up... for about 10 seconds goes out, makes like a buzzing sound, and lights up again, keeps repeating this process.... its been in the closet for years and i pulled it out again, maybe somebody could figure this out, drives me crazy, it would be nice to have it work again although i have a nice HD CRT projector for my home theater now. why does it do this? go off and on. is it the ballast?

It's digital it's either on or off 1 or 0 Laughing

Check for cracks in the plaster. You may have a highvoltage arc in the bulb socket.
