I'm wondering if there's any interest in some of you upgrading the regular 8500/9500 to the Ultra chassis?
I am getting in two sets of CLM/focus/VIM and motherboards for good working condition Utras, which have shot tubes.
I don't even know what to ask for the sets once they are here. I know from VDC they'd be insanely expensive, like $3K maybe for a set, probably more?
I'm guessing I'd sell the sets on an exchange basis for maybe $700 a set? Get that extra control of better geometry controls and improved video circuitry for cheep.
If you're interested, post here, and I"ll I'll update once I check them all out.

Don't forget you need the later model convergence boards for these features to work

You do? I don't think so. The extra commands are on the focus board... I could be wrong, I haven't done a swap yet, but I thought the above were all you needed. I do have the Ultra convergence boards here though if they are mandatory.

The Ultra projectors also have later model VDM, HDM, LVPS and HVPS. These aren't required for the additional geometry features but some say they provide some advantage. The biggest change in picture quality that I have seen was when I went from an 02 to an 03 VIM.

OK, cool. I know the LVPS and HVPS are different. I've had them fail as well, so much for SPellman reliability.
Basically I have three Ultra chassis here. I sold one Ultra CLM to someone today, so I have 2 3/4 Ultra sets left. I got everything but the tubes and backplane. I have the motherboard, and all other boards.

I didn't get the chassis, too expensive to ship. Just got the boards and motherboards.
