If you want to do a VNB mod you can use the Sony Pin out ones from Aferg.

I cant think that putting one Thomas tube with leaving r&g originals helps, Athanashions you noticed that those thomas tubes gived wider picture with original def.yokes. Its maybe possible, but i think there can be too much difference on raster sizes. So much that there is not enought adjustments (Ferrite slugs on HDM) to make rasters eqval on all colours.

Its not that much of a diffrence, I still need to test more. But having said that CRT_Ben when he first did this had one Thomas tube and the rest original Marquees. then he changed them to all Thomas I think after he knew they were stable. I will look at the grid size on all three and compare.

This is true, however I never watched the PJ when it was like that - so I'm not sure how the raster sizes compared. I was also using 8" tubes before I switched to the 9" Thomas tubes.

Ok I just went down to my test PJ and looked at the Thomas tubes grid compared to the other two LCP's and they match up size wise. I also decided to test the focus, but remember I do not have CPC magnets on the thomas tube and all magnetics are just slid on there not permanent , the LCPS are focusing around 26 and the thomas at 55, so there is plenty of room for adjustment and you can tweek them all in the service menu individual focus section. And they do get nice and tight by just looking into the tube as I cant put a lens on it since its just sitting on top of the PJ and not mounted in it.

I've got some 8" and 9" tubes that I should be posting tomorrow. Look in F/S section.

This is the begining of the thread started by Voodoo, he was wondering if it was possible to use sony 09MEX3 tubes in a marquee

http://www.curtpalme.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10836

Then I found some Thomas Tubes that have the Same sony Pin outs as the 09MEX3 tubes, CRT_Ben used these same or similar tubes. I found some used one in decent shape for free, all you need to do is pay for shipping and send the guy the shipping lables. Some are very good tubes some have wear but for free i gave it a shot I first ordered three ,one of each. these were very nice, I thought i messed up the mod and blew the tubes but i just fried the board because of an idiotic move on my part Embarassed I fixed my VNB and in the mean time had another set deliverd, these were ok except for the red, weird light trapazoidal shape, it might show might not. So i fixed the VNB and had a green in the LC housing and it arced like crazy inside but i thought it might be contamination so i just tapped the neck till the arcing stoped, i burned it all off and not the tube works fine, But he has New tubes of this type as well, A little more involved to get them since now you need to deal with his bosses and corporate.

here is the actual mod Link:
