Pete,
How do you like the PS? I bought a refurbed unit from TD by the same manufacturer. The company and unit got some bad feedback, but mine has been humming along for......................... damn it broke:) Actually it has been going for about two and a half years. TD had a stack of them on the shelf for like $25 and so far no regrets, but I was curious to see how yours is holding up.

That is good to hear about the HD as I have been telling my sister to upgrade her computer. I thought she might have to buy a new copy of XP, but I guess not.

Gary,
Another option is finding a decent system on craigslist. I got lucky and bought a Dell 6000 laptop for $150 this week.

No problems with the Ultra PS at all.

IMO the modular PS are the way to go - keeps the cable mess to a minimun. I have had great results from both TD and Newegg - TD is much better at service that they were 6-7 years ago.

Not for long

The 9800 video cards run on a 6 plug power (each) not on the MB power.

My MB also runs on the 8 plug for the chip/FSB power.

More power = more heat = more fans = more power

arg - the humanity

FWIW: we ended up buying a new Acer at Best Buy. They gave us a 15% discount because BB screwed up the process so bad. Smile It has an onboard 8200 graphics card, and that seems to be running Spore just fine.
