I am trying to get an idea of what people are using for a CRT projector when feeding said projector 1920x1080P signal. Is there anyone using an NEC XGLC (or rebadged unit), or something else?

Terry, are you familiar with how Mike has his XG setup? I'd love to hear your thoughts on this. BTW, I had Storming Norm over on Friday for the drywall assessment. Dear god could this mean I actually get a finished basement soon!?!

I figured I'd go ahead and hang the XG, ask that you set it up and maybe build a screen for it, etc., etc., etc.

I'm doing 1080p on my Marquastic 8500. The overall quality for me is the same as 1080i, but I'm blaming the remote between the loose nut and the CRT. Very Happy

I am doing 1080i72 on a BG1209s/E and did 1080i72 on a BG1208s/2. The 1209 is MUCH sharper (not suprisingly). I tried lower resolutions on the 1208, but I liked the picture more with 1080 even though it was not as sharp.

1080i 96hz to my XG LC.

I tried 1920 x 802p at 72hz for Scope movies, but it didn't look any different really to 1080i 96hz.

They both look GOOD.

I find it amazing that some find interlace as good as the progressive for the same resolution. This disturbs me in that an interlaced setup will either produce notable line gaps without the strong persistence of phosphor, or the linearity balance and amplitude is such that the two fields being drawn are overlapping each other and potentially softening the picture.

For those not filling the line gaps and with persistence of phosphor not sufficient is the work around to produce a high enough redraw (i.e. 96 Hz) to overcome this issue? I know this approach may not be the primary reason (vs. tearing or judder), but I suppose it 'works'.

You answered your own question WanMan.

That's the reason we are not running 1080i 48hz...

Try a high refresh rate interlaced res.

The reason I tried 802p at 72hz for scope movies was to try and eliminate the appearance of scan/field lines on white highlights at 1080i 96hz. I assumed they were visible due to interlacing.

When I tried 802p 72hz they were still there. It's just analogue noise or scanlines.
