Damn man, you should have seen the hotties on the beach today! I couldn't have asked for better weather, and the beach near Andres' house is 4 miles long of perfect sand and water. And the hotties, europeans.... love to get their tops off and walk around. I was tempted to take pictures for ya's, but feels kinda wrong taking out a camera with so much nudity on parade.

We have an issue now which is that the second projector kind of blinks and the size and focus changes a bit and goes back and forth from two settings. We already cleaned the CLM contacts, HDM and FGM but the issue is still there. Could it be HV related? Quick fix is to store those settings in two recall memories (we did that) so when it jumps accross the two we can set the appropriate memory... but this is a bummer nonetheless. This happened to me before in this projector - I secured the FGM and HDM boards well and the problem went away... but now (since we removed all tubes and those boards and re-mounted them) it is back again. I wonder what it could be. I will try to change the HV splitter just in case.
Today we should working on color matching and getting the blend done right! |
Just read over this, When you say you cleaned the CLM contacts do you mean the connectors tot he back plane or all the contacts for the removeable chips? I'd clean those too. You live near a salt water ocean. The moist air will have some salt in it and cause oxidation bit faster if you lived inland more. My parents have beach house in greece and every year they have to clean the contacts to there tv antena in the house as it looses contact from the salty moist air being that close to the sea.

Hi - looks like the issue has HV related. We changed the HVPS and the problem went away!
Finally yesterday we put all the covers of the right PJ and closed it completely (my dream!). Now today we'll close the other one and do minor tweaks. We did grayscale and did a good initial SE curve for the blend. It looks fantastic.
...one note: when I say "we" it's really Gino...Gino uses sophisticated calibration equipment but it's almost as if he doesn't really need them (he can see 2.5 dE color mismatches). I feel color blind compared to him
Hopefully tomorrow we can get some pictures.

So we've got a very nice blended image on the screen right now. Which reminds me, must measure how many ftL's we're getting. I want to go over focus and convergence again. Last night Andres wanted to watch some clips, considering he is attempting a blend with only 8% overlap, we have a nice result. I calibrated to D65 on both projectors and we have awesome shadow details and a fade to black which lasts for about 7 seconds.
Once done, we'll need to clean up the HT a bit before posting some pictures of the room, so in the meantime I have some miscellaneous pictures.
First, the staircase to the basement...
