So, it looks like it's back to the Toshiba 42H83. We've decided to keep our TV watching upstairs, and not in the HT, so there's space for it - and the poor plasma is going south. Same problem it had before, so I'm guessing it's a common failure mode, and I don't particularly feel like sourcing another board.
What's the problem? The Tosh is great, but it has this wobble/wave problem when it starts - horizontal waves, worse at the top and getting less severe toward the bottom. The problem mostly goes away after about 20 minutes, but there's a little wave all the time (a couple of pixels wide at 720p). The menus are rock solid all the time, though.
Since I'm going to be using this guy again, I'd really like to get it tweaked out to the max. First step is getting the wavy wobble out. I've heard there's a fix for this (some caps, or something) but thought I'd see if anybody here knows what it is before I go digging all over hell's half acre.
Second step is getting the thing to focus / resolve better. Right now it's having a really tough time with 720p, so I know it can do better.
Any suggestions?

i gave this set to my parents and took it apart and cleaned the mirror and the lens' as they were filthy.
the wave sounds like it could be a ground loop problem, i wonder if it has a bad cap that might allow some noise to get through
as its not filtering properly anymore.
Evry time i go to my parents though i am reminded how nice that set looks.

This is a common Toshiba problem but you need to verify which hyper module you have. Its the shielded board near the video board. Look for the numbers on it. It should be 8 or 9 digits starting with 23.

Thanks, I'll check that and reply.
