Hello,
Any help would be appreciated. I just picked up a Runco VX-7 for $100.00. It's a commercial 3 DLP unit, but all I can find on Runco's archive site is that it puts out 6500 lumens. No manual, or other specs. It looks to run off of 220v, & was manufactured by NEC by the looks of the remote,(exactly like my runco 991 CRT remote), & weighs about 200 lbs, & as large, or larger than a 9"CRT unit. I don't have the power cord, which attaches to a threaded connector with 4 male pins. Looking for specs, set-up/service manual?
Thanks, fiddlesticks

I cannot help you. Curious, why would you buy a 220V 6500-lumen projector?

Well, if you got it going, it would make one hell of a "back-yard theater" projector. Of course, unless you happen to have the garage set up for welding or you've got a hell of a long extension cord, the whole 220 thing could be trouble!
I don't even want to think about what a lamp costs, though. Yikes.

My 'after thoughts' exactly to both posts, in that order. It was an as is deal, & I figured parts might be worth the investment, I did find out it ws $130,000 new. The optics on this thing look expensive,(runco, everything's expensive/overpriced),. Well, I guess this would give me an excuse to run a 220 line to the garage in case I want to take up welding, & recreate that old 'drive in' experence.I really just want to see if it even powers on. Thanks!

I think for $100 it is worth it just for the fact you can mess around with it, equipment that recently cost as much as a house! Do you have pics? And definitely post pictures if it does power up.

Yeah, pics! Pics of crazy stuff like giant projectors (even if they're digital) are always cool.
Have you tried calling Runco directly to see about getting a manual or the power cord or at least finding out what style power cord it is? I doubt the power connector is Runco-proprietary (though, that wouldn't be impossible by Runco standards). They might at least be able to give you the spec on the cord so you can find one. You'll probably spend more on the cord than you have on the projector so far, though.
Also, go look at the Leviton site... Download the "Pin & Sleeve" catalog or the entire "Industrial Wiring Devices" catalog. Here's their downloads page:

Here's a direct link to the 1.2mb PDF of the international pin/sleeve catalog of connectors:

http://www.digitallifestylesllc.com/ They are the local Runco dealer around here (Louisville). They are cool guys and might be able to help you out. I also know a guy in the theatre business that could help with the lamp if you get some pics of it.

Hi all, Thanks for the info ecrabb, & scdq124. I'll contact Digital Lifestyles next week, & see what they can tell me. If this fires up, & I can find a surface large enough to project on, I'll post pics. The specs in the archive section gives a screen size of 10' to 54', deffinitely a large venue machine. I looked inside, & the lamp looks to be water cooled, thought that was kind of cool.

This unit -may- need the Runco controller with it to control it. Some of the lower end units have that 'feature'.

I wanted to bring this back up to the top. I just saw this projector on the local Craigslist and was wondering if it was Fiddlesticks giving up on it or it was another one in the area. I would love to use it for a backyard theatre.

You have to ask? For $100 I would have bought it as well, and lit up the neighbor's bathroom!
