See, you're making my point Dave!!! |
I never said they were not ugly. I just don't get worked up about people's choice in footwear. People wear lots of ugly things--C'est la vie. If it makes them happy, why do I care?

Correct. I've stated that in the past when I post these things. I have absolutely no idea who orders what nor do I even know what items were ordered together. It's just a big (well, not so big for us) list of items. Like an itemized shopping list.
tri_joel wrote: | Whew. Thank goodness. I was relieved a few items I ordered were not shown in this thread. Amazon does have EVERYTHING you know. |
Aw, c'mon! What items Joel?? I thought I covered everything that was interesting!

On reflection, it is funny how the Crocs started the big debate. Personally, the Bratz doll concerns me more--some parent here is actually teaching their daughter to be a sex object--wow, what high aspirations for your child!

Here, somebody order some of THESE to spice up Kal's list-reading.
I'd do it but I already got my wife a pair last Valentine's day. ***HIGHLY*** recommended!!!!
(Edit: Link modified so that people can just hover over it to see what it is without having to actually click on it... )

Maybe the doll isn't for their kids? (shudder)
More fuel for the crocs debate:

Maddox is such a jerk, but so hilarious at times.
Did anyone else find the Blu-Ray of Fifth Element just a bit too good? The special effects in the movie don't hold up as well under the eagle eye of HD. The old DVD transfer I had was much more forgiving; you couldn't make stuff out clearly enough to scoff at the wrinkles in the Diva's head, for example. Or see the outlines around Zorg's ship when it's in space.

That TV looks nice in the picture, but I was NOT impressed by it - especially for almost $2500. That's exactly the LCD my in-laws just got. I was over there watching the Indy 500 and it just didn't look very sharp. It looked soft and fuzzy. It was using the HD OTA tuner. I flipped to a couple other programs and same thing on those channels. I don't know if it's that 120hz stuff, but I thought that was supposed to make motion BETTER. Whatever, I was really disappointed for how much money they spent. Of course, I nodded and smiled and said, "Wow, that looks great. Oooh ahhh." It IS freaking huge - that's for sure.
Oh, and I still hate Crocs.

I had a yard sale this last weekend, and I saw at least ten people wearing Crocs. Must be a cult or something.

Ok, sure! Here's some more things over the last 40 days or so since I last posted. Hover over the pictures or title for pricing information.
An Arrow to the Heart: A Commentary on the Heart Sutra (Paperback)
"An Arrow to the Heart is an exciting, trail-blazing, non-traditional translation and commentary of the Heart Sutra, an ancient and highly revered text in Mahayana Buddhism. This sutra is a concise presentation of the emptiness of all experience. Almost cryptic in its brevity, it confounds and inspires all who read it."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Someone's having problems on the dating scene:
It's More Than Words - Reading People From The Outside In: The Astonishing Power of Face Reading (Paperback)
"Researchers have found that 93% of communication is nonverbal. That means the words we use are only seven percent of what we are trying to say. We simply haven't evolved enough yet. So we must rely on the forms of communication that we used before we had language to help us better understand one another. Physiognomy, the scientific name for face reading, is a very accurate way for you to effectively identify and analyze the features of the face that characterize personality traits."
The Definitive Book of Body Language (Hardcover)
"Available for the first time in the United States, this international bestseller reveals the secrets of nonverbal communication to give you confidence and control in any face-to-face encounter–from making a great first impression and acing a job interview to finding the right partner."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Secrets of Home Theater (Secrets of...) (Paperback)
This one's only interesting because of the price: 76 cents bought off a 3rd party! Obviously those secrets aren't worth very much...!
----------------------------------------------------------------
All About John Deere Special Edition DVD
"With cutting edge picture and sound this DVD blows every Blu-ray out of the water! A must have for any serious home theater aficionado!!"
(Ok I made that part up. Obviously someone has a son about the same age as mine.)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Dinosaur Valley Girls (Mammoth Edition) (1995) DVD
"With cutting edge picture and sound this DVD ..." Ah never mind... nobody's going to believe me.
----------------------------------------------------------------
HDMI Cable 2M (6 Feet)
The $1.27 HDMI cable. Who says you need to spend a lot? Take that Monster! (FWIW, just about any HDMI cable will do for short distances).
----------------------------------------------------------------
Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR Hight Definition Personal Video Recorder
"The Hauppauge 1212 HD-PVR High Definition Personal Video Recorder is the world's first high-definition video recorder for making real-time H.264 compressed recordings at resolutions up to 1080i. With the HD-PVR, you can schedule and automatically record your favorite shows in high definition directly from cable TV and satellite set top boxes. As an added feature, the HD-PVR also includes S-Video inputs so you can convert all your old home video tapes into Blu-ray DVD recordings."
----------------------------------------------------------------
OPPO HM-31 Certified HDMI 1.3 and 1080p Switch
Good HDMI 1.3 switch. Recommended by many magazines & reviewers. When you need more control than our own 3x1 Smart HDMI v1.3 Switch.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Onkyo SKS-HT750B 7.1 Channel Speaker System for Home Theater
----------------------------------------------------------------
Onkyo TX-SR705 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black)
Excellent value HDMI switching receiver that decodes all of the latest lossless audio formats found on Blu-ray.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Onkyo TX-SR875 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver
Similar to the receiver above, taken up a notch with top notch scaling and other features thrown in.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Samsung BD-P1500 1080p Blu-Ray Player
----------------------------------------------------------------
MLO Xtreme Bars, Peanut Butter, 3.17-Ounce Bars (Pack of 12)
----------------------------------------------------------------
Joyce Chen Bamboo Wood Oil, 8 Ounces
----------------------------------------------------------------
Back to Black [Vinyl] [EXPLICIT LYRICS]
The part time artist, full time coke snorter/people beater-upper.
----------------------------------------------------------------
And finally, in the "I didn't know Amazon sold MP3 downloads!" department:
Running On Empty, Jackson Brown [MP3 download]
Van Halen II [MP3 download]
Wish You Were Here, Pink Floyd [MP3 download]
One album I've probably played over 1000 times myself. Classic. "We're just two lost souls Swimming in a fish bowl, Year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here."
I don't mention the dozens of Blu-ray, HD DVD, and DVD movies... nothing too exciting.
Thanks for all your support everyone! As long as people keep buying a few things like this from time to time from Amazon, this forum's not going anywhere and will continue to expand ...

Does the website get a cut of every purchase made that was linked through this site? I thought it was only for the a/v stuff that was featured.
I may as well just start linking through here before amazon purchases. Except when I buy my "massagers" and other devices. I dont want Kal making fun of my "habits."

Nope. After you've clicked through, Absolutely anything you buy at Amazon or one of their third party sellers gives the forum a cut. Not just A/V stuff.

We don't see what you buy so buy anything you want! Just make sure to click through one of our ads or links first!
