Somewhere here I read about a backlit wireless keyboard, but I can't find it. Anybody got some info on these?

some one tell emdawgz to add "eveready batteries" to his portfolio.

this is probably the thread you are remembering, but it mostly comments on backlighting NOT being available Sad

backlit keyboards are going to eat batteries nicely. with all that bragging about good choices in your stock portfolio i figured that a tip toward what will be a growing battery industry might be appreciated Smile

Jeez, i hope it didnt come off like bragging.... its just thats the first time i've had that kind of success in my life ....well...EVER Embarassed

i looked at a lot of annual reports for a lot of companies, and did a ton of research.... well if it did seem like that, sorry.

i cant find corporate info on eveready... energizer is selling @ 112.97 a share... Shocked

they have a good mix of products, a good p/e ratio. A strong position in the marketplace, product recognition is excellent.

They have a lot of debt, in relation to their assets. I'd look at what thats all about before i invested.

I did quick google search and couldn't find anything, either. I just can't believe nobody makes a backlit wireless keyboard just because of power consumption. Apple does it with their MacBook Pro machines - a notebook computer - and they have excellent battery run times.

I'm sure it would be pricey - at least a couple hundy, but I don't see any reason batteries would have to be an issue. 115-odd tiny SMT LEDs in the 15-20mW range would only be a watt or watt-and-a-half. Seems very doable on a larger NiMH battery that you'd dock by USB to recharge.

I'm guessing they manufacturers just assume there wouldn't be enough market for what would have to be a pretty pricey wireless keyboard.

Oh well. I guess if you have to have wired anyway, then you might as well pick up an Optimus Maximus and have the coolest keyboard on the planet. It has an active configurable color OLED display under each of its 113 keys... and it's ONLY $1564. Smile

Oh, MAN I wish I had money to burn.

Yep... only. I know... Schnikes! But, come on - it's the coolest keyboard you've ever seen, isn't it? Wink

If $1500 is a little pricey for you, you could get one of these:

$135 at ThinkGeek.

It's the Optimus Prime's fetal version. Wink

Not wireless, but I'll put in a recommendation for the Logitech g15 keyboard. I picked one up a while back for gaming, but it has turned out to be just the thing for HT. All the keys are backlit with easy access to two brightness levels and off, and the lcd display is excellent for displaying stuff I want to access during playback without needing to fire up the secondary display.

That last is doubly handy right now, since PDVD keeps crashing on me unless I switch my setup to single monitor.

I know, not what you asked for, but maybe you could run a long USB line and put a hub in the arm of your chair. Wink
